Quote: Wikipedia is crap. A guy from the "atari task force" decides about CBM related articles... Tells a lot.
were you sure you weren't a door to door salesman of encyclopaedia's ? (we used to have them in the uk)
I don't think it's all bad, just taking everything on there as gospel is a no no, using it as a source and doing a bit more research is handy at times.
Now it makes me think, do I wait or buy the mmc ?. After reading, I notice the bit about the tape interface, that sounds interesting if I could use it to port tapes I have (normally with custom loaders). Being £92+ makes me wait, as I'd rather not buy something that turned out to be a lemming.
I guess more sceners having it = more chance of people making utils for it (maybe there is already, and I'm just being dumb).
Although I'm sure the angle of someone who knows the machine pretty well inside out to test it = whats good or maybe bad about it. |

linde: word! ;-) That, or we could read about 7000 Wikipedia-pages on every tiny scrap in the fictional Stargate universe! ;-) Or how about checking out an individual page on every single one of 416 Simpsons episodes ever created? 8) Seeing all this glorious and indispensable content, who still needs a small page on an actual product you can buy that will make quite a few people happy? 8))))
Basically, that Otherstuffexists page is nothing more than Wikipedia covering its ears singing "LALALA I can't hear you!"...
Or how about that crystal ball page they always love to refer to - Every FUCKING VIDEOGAME AND MOVIE has had their own wikipedia page long before it hits the store/silverscreen! How's that for crystal balls, you dumb fucks?
All that talk about "this violates that golden rule by which we Wikicops act!" coptalk is complete and utter BS, Wikipedia IS FULL OF CRAP! That's a fact and everybody knows it! Not just what the articles are about, also the content! But it's OUR CRAP, and I always thought that was the appeal (well atleast for me! ;-) and also the idea behind Wikipedia.... |

well... it's IMHO huge historical achievement (if it does what it is supposed to do) so it should get it's entry in WIKIPEDIA (sooner or later), but probably not now.. we need to wait for year or so until it gets spread and properly tested.
The first ones have been delivered and miztluren(who paid after me but still got his before me..mumble mumble..) reports that he's been running sharp and demos from speedfisters from it, so its already safe to say that it does what its supposed to do ;) |

Just got mine today!!!! ;-) Didn't have the chance to try it out yet, but it is beautifully manufactured! I'll probably try to mod a case from an unusable BTX-decoder to fit.... |

DK, what's that with the reference from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_64_peripherals
to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1541_Ultimate
yours:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1541_ultimate
Maybe it helps to correct the link in the C64 peripherals page.
I'm no wiki expert, though the whole community thing is interesting. I hope it will get out of hand, resulting in total madness. \o/

I think they're quite civilised still, but this little 'deletion' discussion is probably only a tip of the iceberg. |

There are hordes of mentally challenged individuals on Wikipedia whos sole purpose in life is to delete other peoples' articles. I've encountered quite a few on the Swedish section, I imagine there are 10x more on the english variant. The best way of avoiding them is not to contribute to Wikipedia in he first place but to create sepparate wikis were these people have no say. |
