Burglar Presents: 100% SID - Live At X2008

Before Jeroen Tel did his energetic performance on friday at X2008, Burglar of Success and The Ruling Company was doing an excellent DJ-set using only SIDÂ’s to warm up all those sceners.

Everything was done in Mixmeister Fusion. Most sid recordings came from SOASC.

NB: I edited practically every sid btw.

@ BURGLAR
I finally had the change to listen to the radio-rip last week.
Sounds great. We're trying to do something like that for ages, live-mixing real sids on air. But it isn't really manageble without decent speed- or volume-control.
How did you do the speedcontrol?
Did you have fancy SID-player or did you use streamed wav/mp3's?
I'd rather do it with real SIDS from a HardSID. Always sounds better than a recording, even a recording from that same HardSID...

aod, well, its not really live ;) (yet!) but I'm indeed using mp3 recordings of the sids (soasc ftw, hope its back soon).

as you said, pitchcontrol/timestretching is needed and sequencing and eq, so I use a pc mix tool that allows all that.

oh and btw, check http://www.radiox.de/files/radiox.m3u right now, c64 special on german radio www.drpong.org for more info.

thx for the fast reply.

I already thought so. :)
That is probably the way to go. Live mixing streamed SIDs shouldn't be such a problem. As the tempo is mostly determined by the 50 hz vertical blanks ofcourse.
But for now I think that is the way to go; more or less "design your set"; stream the SIDs you need (make them stereo in the process and maybe add a little compression) and then mix them live in a nice DJ prog.

I.ve seen the Bastian guy try some live-mixing with sidplay and it was not a pretty sight. :|

Sorry can't check out the show. Am on expensive WIFI. :)
