The "writer" type programs

I recalled the writer type programs today at work. You know the ones where you write on the screen, then the program can play it back.

I remember writing one of those back in the day, but didn't really remember much about it other than it used kernal routines, and then you just stored all the keypresses in a buffer, and just played it back.

I was looking at kernal routines etc. for hours, and finally came up with a shitty program 🤣 (you can't save, lol).

I didn't remember that the cursor caused so many headaches back then, but I kind of got it to work, but it is ugly in writing mode.

Haha, I'm wondering how much I coded it the wrong way, or how it can be optimized/done smarter, especially the cursor stuff.

Have a look, if you're interested in this spaghetti code 🤣🤣🤣: https://pastebin.com/xz7SmVSQ

Cheers!

I second Zyron & Adam on the FutureWriter tools ... they were another great favourite of mine.

Dark Warrior was also another writer I liked.

Lots of feedback, but still nobody bothered looking at Starfox' own experiment, it seems. :)

Hahaha, don't worry. It was very bad :) Made from what I could remember, or not remember :) Just an experiment, as you said :)

I remember writing a proportional font note display whilst on a long flight, many years ago. Wonder where it went.

@Martin: Scan the hard drives and dig it out - nice entry for the Grave Digger Compo at next Nordlicht. :-)

This one was used in many demos and was probably the first one I tried myself. Such fond memories.
