@Geir I totally get the point that it's not a c64 production so doesn't belong here it's just your analogy was somewhat flawed ;)

JCB & STE, please read the rules of CSDb under the Help tab, to avoid clashes like this. It's not that the people here are all angry trolls with negative vibes, you just have to read the rules to understand.

@JCB. I see you didn't get my point. Whatever. Make that demo instead.

Now you're giving me ideas and I've already got loads of code to write! ;)

What would be even cooler, is that the prince of Persia REALLY does jump from one side border to the other! ;)

yeah JCB, go for it! (: I really would luv to see a new demo with graphix from Ste'86, that would rock! (:

hmm, but Ste specifically re-drew all those frames at 2:1 res 4 colours. If there was an app that would import them and put them into an array of sprites you'd have a big load of animation frames for a game WITHOUT any change in quality/detail of what is there. Converting an mp3 isn't the same thing. Converting an mp3 to a sid and loading that on the C64 is.

I'd say just delete it Ste, if it's not in the remit of the site then there's no point dealing with the hassle of people demanding it not be here. I'll finish my sprite grabber and we can make a little demo out of it and upload it again..

I think it is really cool that STE'86 is having this nostalgy and interest at the moment. But it is true STE, it doesn't belong here as it is not a executable C64 file. Would be hilarious if all us musicians uploaded MP3 files and said: "this could be a C64 tune". Don't you see the point? Convert, and make a C-64 executable out of this. Then it should be ok. Put a nifty Hubbard tune on it or something. ;-)

It's still not a C64 release, as already said.

perhaps because its a complete set of sprites that are coder ready for implementation for a game that was never released on the c64 and that's on dozens of "wants" lists across the net?

I have checked the .zip, and all I see in it, are a load of .gif's and a .psd here and there. I've not been able to locate any c64 executables of any kind, so I too don't see why this should be on CSDb.

have u ACTUALLY downloaded that zip before u spouted this bollocks? you would find that it isnt an animated gif its ALL the spritesheets for POP in c64 res that could be implemented by a coder into a game

Animated GIF can be played on C64? I don't see how this can belong to CSDb and anyway it's not a "C64 Graphic collection" at all.
Either convert this to a C64 program or remove.

absolutely no idea if this is valid on here, so if it isnt just tell me. these were done at the end of last year for no special reason other than prove a point. They are all in 3 colour + transparent GIF format and conform to regular c64 sprite sizes. they were not done with hires overlays on purpose, so they could be atari 800 capable too.

continue here, thanks

I could turn MP3s into C64 files with this: C64MP3
There's the anal-ogy. ;-)

ahh, but that doesn't exactly reproduce the source.

This site often uses Gif to display koa (as the preview image) and that gif contains the same information as the koa therefore can be converted back, and Ste's gifs were all basically C64 image format (4 colour 2:1 pixel AR) and would convert exactly to koa or chars or sprites with no loss of quality/colours. Technically all those gifs could be converted to koa and uploaded and they'd be C64 files and look exactly the same... not really much point doing that though as it's probably then of much less use to anyone that wanted to use them.

The analogy part of your post "mp3 to c64 = gif to c64" was flawed in this case, the sentiment of your post "they're not c64 files" wasn't. Sorry to sound like an English teacher :P

Here's an example of a relevant non-C64 file, attached to *its* release. Echoes
Hope you get it now JCB. ;-)

I give up. Sorry if you can't see the point I'm making and at the same time continually miss every time I've actually agreed Ste's uploaded gifs invalid files for this site as is.

Sorry, thought it encoded MP3s.

But I wasn't talking about converting MP3s into C64 files in the first place. My point was if everyone uploaded MP3 previews of their synth-whatever previews here and said: "hey, this could work damn fine as a SID tune". No matter the source. It's still not a C64 executable file.
