@Geir I totally get the point that it's not a c64 production so doesn't belong here it's just your analogy was somewhat flawed ;)

JCB & STE, please read the rules of CSDb under the Help tab, to avoid clashes like this. It's not that the people here are all angry trolls with negative vibes, you just have to read the rules to understand.

@JCB. I see you didn't get my point. Whatever. Make that demo instead.

Now you're giving me ideas and I've already got loads of code to write! ;)

What would be even cooler, is that the prince of Persia REALLY does jump from one side border to the other! ;)

hmm, but Ste specifically re-drew all those frames at 2:1 res 4 colours. If there was an app that would import them and put them into an array of sprites you'd have a big load of animation frames for a game WITHOUT any change in quality/detail of what is there. Converting an mp3 isn't the same thing. Converting an mp3 to a sid and loading that on the C64 is.
I'd say just delete it Ste, if it's not in the remit of the site then there's no point dealing with the hassle of people demanding it not be here. I'll finish my sprite grabber and we can make a little demo out of it and upload it again..

I think it is really cool that STE'86 is having this nostalgy and interest at the moment. But it is true STE, it doesn't belong here as it is not a executable C64 file. Would be hilarious if all us musicians uploaded MP3 files and said: "this could be a C64 tune". Don't you see the point? Convert, and make a C-64 executable out of this. Then it should be ok. Put a nifty Hubbard tune on it or something. ;-)

It's still not a C64 release, as already said.

perhaps because its a complete set of sprites that are coder ready for implementation for a game that was never released on the c64 and that's on dozens of "wants" lists across the net?

I have checked the .zip, and all I see in it, are a load of .gif's and a .psd here and there. I've not been able to locate any c64 executables of any kind, so I too don't see why this should be on CSDb.

have u ACTUALLY downloaded that zip before u spouted this bollocks? you would find that it isnt an animated gif its ALL the spritesheets for POP in c64 res that could be implemented by a coder into a game

Animated GIF can be played on C64? I don't see how this can belong to CSDb and anyway it's not a "C64 Graphic collection" at all.
Either convert this to a C64 program or remove.

absolutely no idea if this is valid on here, so if it isnt just tell me. these were done at the end of last year for no special reason other than prove a point. They are all in 3 colour + transparent GIF format and conform to regular c64 sprite sizes. they were not done with hires overlays on purpose, so they could be atari 800 capable too.
continue here, thanks |

I give up. Sorry if you can't see the point I'm making and at the same time continually miss every time I've actually agreed Ste's uploaded gifs invalid files for this site as is.

I could turn MP3s into C64 files with this: C64MP3
There's the anal-ogy. ;-)
Sorry, thought it encoded MP3s.
But I wasn't talking about converting MP3s into C64 files in the first place. My point was if everyone uploaded MP3 previews of their synth-whatever previews here and said: "hey, this could work damn fine as a SID tune". No matter the source. It's still not a C64 executable file. |

Those gif's can be added after the release (.d64) Then it's relevant. Just thought this was rather easy to understand. Sorry :/ No matter how you twist this now, you'll have the last word, I'll promise. ;-) |

I totally get that and that's why I keep agreeing they're not right for this site. The point I keep trying to make is they're pixeled to work in C64 format and just happen to currently be in gifs.
I'm not asking anyone to allow those on the site (as I said in my first sentence) just pointing out that it's wildly different to your "MP3 could become sid.." because you can't exactly reproduce 99% of MP3s on the C64 and the graphics Ste has done ARE c64 format ;) I've got a prg right here I did a gif to koa conversion but there's kind of no point then unless someone wants to keep loading single frame koala prgs on their machine.
Do you want a hundred or so of those? ;) Of course not, there's no point. At some point I could do a demo with them all in, again no point really. Basically Ste thought someone might find them useful, got told to remove them and instead of it turning into a debate Ian or whoever should've just deleted it right then.
Done now? :)
*edit*
Oh ok, I see you decided to start getting arsey about it. You're quite welcome to the last word, I'll just go ahead and convert all of these and upload them, now they're valid runnable C64 files...

Never said that mp3's could become SID's. You have to edit them in a tracker. You missed the point. Just to compare this 100% with graphics, the MP3s could contain a recording from my C64 of a new/old unreleased tune. They still wouldn't allow it as a release on this database cos there's no executable file for it. Sorry, just can't understand your nitpicking. No offence. ;-) |

I know there's alot of people on CSDb being arsey, and it's quite sad. |

Ok, I apologise if I'm nitpicking, just trying to get the point across that compared to some stuff (wired images for eg) these are actually "pixeled", just on PC (like a lot of current stuff) and as linked above can easily be made into C64 format. |

Agree 100% with you. Still there's rules to follow. Don't shoot me. LOL. Nice to see your interests JCB. ;-) |

*sigh*
let's make one more rule, ok?
if at least two moderators think something (uploaded) shouldn't be on the site, let them send the uploader a pm/e-mail stating the rule it violates and at least one suggestion on how to make the upload comply.
no reaction to that pm or no sensible defense then, for heavens sake, let the mod remove it himself.
discussions like this can do serious damage to inter-member relations.
i've been in one of these discussions before and, at least, I believe that it is not sensible to spend good portions of an hour and hundreds of precious key-taps why or how something should be on the internet... |

And now I see they removed the file.
you know, I was actually interested in that...
(now let's hope they get the point) |
