Anyone want their tune featured in a demo being released this weekend?
Hi there... I am wondering if anyone has a nice little tune they would like featured in our wild entry being released this weekend.
It has a fun world-first in it, I cannot talk too much about this yet, but I am hoping it gets featured quite a bit beyond just the demoscene...
So I would be eternally grateful if a composer would like to lend a tune for this!
Regards

Man, you are late. :-)
I'm not a composer, but I am sure the musicians here would want at least a small hint in which direction the music should go - oldschool, techno, something rather quiet...? |

Compo deadline is in 48 hours, that is like a lifetime.
I'm not too picky about style... anything well produced.

I don't promise anything, but I might try, on one condition.
I will get the unpacked executable part which will feature the music (with instructions where to insert the tune, or accompained with some test tune). Then I will compose a tune (or adapt some worktune) tailored/timed to the content. I tested this process in this prod Resurrection . It was fun and it had good feedback. |

I usually find it very funny to be "the outsider" on projects like this and compose a tune for a demo.
My usual approach is to first of all see a "preview" of what the team has build and needs music for, secondly... a video of the demo can work as well for me, or a working version in full length of the part I am composing for.
As CreaMD commented, it's more interesting to compose for a demo or part, if you can time/link it with the visuals somehow.
I usually need a few weeks for such a task, since my daily life doesn't allow me to spend 5-6 hours in row pr. night. |

Hi guys, just following up that thread... it's not dead - but we delayed releasing. I have some updates.
1. We have a release we are working on for a SIGGRAPH demoscene event invitro. I can share graphics now and over the next few days I can provide a working demo with placeholder music.
2. The release that we were hoping to do for Flashback has been postponed until the SIGGRAPH event in November. As soon as I have a working shell for you to play with I can share it...
Thanks for everyone's support! |

Quoting ZIGCompo deadline is in 48 hours, that is like a lifetime. True - at least in the old days, where you could ask a musician if they wanted to compose something at a party, and they would say "sure, just need to borrow your computer for 1-2 hours" and then they would sit with headphones in a noisy hall and compose something like Drudgery. But of course, that was in the same period where Oxyron would release a demo every two weeks, so I guess everyone were faster back then. |

I guess "composing" back then also usually didn't start with writing 1000 lines of filter and wave tables for every instrument just to keep up with your competitors ;-P |

Quoting Cruzerand then they would sit with headphones in a noisy hall and compose something like Drudgery. Man, that tune immediately makes me want to code some never-seen-before colourful raster effect with ever-changing parameters, that one can watch for hours. =) |

What keeps you from actually doing it Gunnar? Old age? ;) |
