Prophet64
Ey Guys,
I've been fidgitting round a bit with the prophet64cartridge and i have to admit that im actually quite stunned by it's "softsynths". But i didn't take the effort yet to check out the Sequencer part. Now my question is: is it any good? And if i would compose a track in that sequencer, can it easily be used in demo's and games and stuff? Please share your experiences. I was also wondering wether it supported gradual tempo changes.
Thx.

Erm, this would be a great question for the Prophet64 Forum (http://www.prophet64-forum.com/) instead of this SCENE forum.
Anyway, the sequencer has a PSID export option so you can easily convert it back to a binary .prg file.
Also the Prophet64 sequencer 'leans' too much on that 2nd SID you can install, which causes the end-product useless for vanilla scene C64's.
As for the tempo changes, yes.
Dunno what gradial tempo changes are...i'm just a self-taught musician.
I'd say: RTFM!

Ey Scout !
I'm doing a track for a scene release and im investigating which tracker to use. Using p64 software vanilla-stylie and exporting to psid is one of the options on the list. That's is why this topic seemed scene related to me.
The question is who has experience with composing "vanilla" (3 voice) tracks with prophet and exporting them for scene related use. Im interested in their experiences and weteher they would recommend it and why (not).
(Why rtfm and reinvent the wheel, if one mightve been trhough all that already?)
"Gradual tempo change" is no technical term music theoretically spoken. I just mean to increase or decrease speed gradually as opposed to step wise. (technical terms are: accelerando (speeding up) and ritardando (slowing down).
Thx

Btw. The manual tells that tunes from P64 Sequenzer eat a lot of rastertime.... |

Nata is right.
So forget about it.
Btw, the answer to 95% of your other questions you posted today is: use a decent c64 musiceditor like the rest of us; GoatTracker, Sid Duzz It, JCH Player, John Player.

These are amongst the clearest possible awnsers I could have possibly dreamed of. I will forget about it and focus on 'decent' trackers for this project. Thx for waking me up guys.

For whom it might concern, there's a Midi interface for use with the C64 PROPHET64 cartridge available now.
http://www.dtronics.net/html/midi_for_prophet64.html
It converts midi timing to sync24 and the prophet sync24 to midi timing.
You can also use program-change messages over midi to change the presets in your prophet software.
I just got it and it really looks nice.
Maybe I'll put up some jams for you to download somewhere this weekend.

Okay, a quicky...
http://8bitmayhem.untergrund.net/prophet64/prophet64-test1.mp3
What you hear is a C64-II (with 8580 SID) and some delay-fx added.
Beats are coming from a Roland TR606 drumcomputer.
It is just a quick test to see if that midi-sync device (see previous post) is stable.
Well...yeah. It is stable alright! :D

Yes, it does indeed.
I just knew our trusty old C64 could do it :)
