Turrican 1 or Turrican 2
(just taking a break from the festival activities and finding the time to make a CSDb post. Besides, there's little on TV, the thought of going out to do battle with traffic is a non starter, and if I wanted to get some Boxing day specials, I can do that online. Infact I already have. Picked up Extras's Series 1 and Series 2 for only £6.97 down from £27.99 from Amazon)
Turrican 1 or Turrican 2 - and why?
Turrican 1 for me because: It had the most memorable moments. The big fish, the fist, the huge jumping gun toting jap/indian/man/robot thing :D
Have to admit, the main play sprite look/animation was better on Turrican 2. Maybe someone could rip the Turrican 2 sprite and put it into Turrican 1 to form the ultimate Turrican.

heh, I guess Turrican isn't so popular.
How about a Wizball hack? :D
By hack, I was thinking about using the same game with a new set of levels and enemies. |

Dunno why but I never dug Turrican's gameplay. Yet speaking of platform games, what I'd rather like to see is a touched up Giana Sisters with fancy modern graphics, lot of nice muzax and a bunch of new levels :) |

A touched up Wizball would be something. In the end, the power-ups are somewhat limited, and there's no real end to the game as such. The bonus level is still brilliant though, haven't ever been finishing it - 260 beeing my current record. |

Are you sure about that or is your memory playing tricks on you, Twoflower? I finished it several times and always ended up with a 256 count. IIRC. The bonus level finishes with a second extra life in form of a evil wizball twin that you have to shoot. |

Hmm, we actually had a go at it this xmas, and i'm pretty sure that the bonus level doesn't end by shooting the Wizball coming up. And i'm pretty sure the twin Wizball doesn't arrive by the count of 256 enemies.
Them little green bastards arrive after that, don't they? I might be way wrong here, but I sure don't think so? We played it through until we reached 999999 points, and must have reached the bonus-level innumerable times. |

I'm talking about the second Wizball. The first one is around the middle, and yeah after that there are the green "shields" that are somehow stuck with the scrolling. But it's been a good while since I last played it. |

Never was much into Turrican. Will always remember it on Amiga though for its' brilliant Soundtrack by Chris Hülsbeck. |

Oh, I was invited to participate in this project when their graphician dissapeared for a longer period. Luckily for them, he suddenly showed up just before I started to pixel for the game :D
But yes, something like that, only for C64! |

Yes, I concur almost completely. T1 had the better graphics. It felt much more polished than the sequel, especially when it came to the enemy sprites (the fish and the fist simply rule). However, I disagree with the player sprite. I find the original to be much better. Also, some levels in T2 rival those of T1. My personal favourite is 3-3, with 3 superfast, supersmooth, parallax scrolling background layers. Awesome.
In the end though, it couldn't possibly live without either of them. If you own a c64, they're mandatory items in your game inventory :). |
