German Band wants to cover C64 SIDs

Hello all!

My Cousin is a SID fan, 19 years old and plays in a band full of talented musicians.

I recommended them to cover SID songs as metal/progressive/alternative Covers, and the whole band agreed in enthusiasm.

Now they have a question to the C64 Scene Audience.

Which classical and popular SID's are worth to give the band a try? Which ones you'd love to hear in the style mentioned above?

Greetings, you fuckz0rs! Coffee And Cig anyone? :D

Almost anything by Matt Gray would suit that style IMO.

just some out of my mind.

they should listen to rob hubbards stuff...
nemesis the warlock, lightforce, crazy comets, arcade classics, skate or die, zoids, the last v8, chimera....

martin galways tracks could also be very cool
checkout: arkanoids, game over, wizball, green beret, parallax

Also he could watch demos (preferrably older ones since, let's face it, older SIDs had better melodies) and when there's something he likes he can look up the SID on CSDB.

I would agree with zyron and scout, I always remember domintor music.. was heavy.. he was good at a more harder/harsh sound.

hubbard and tel are too obvious..

if ya talking metal, int..the music from game over by galway =)

I used to like the music for agent x on the spectrum (sorry I swore ;-) ) if you do a search for "Project AY" you'll see it.. very hissy BUT 4 sound channels out of 1 is one of the landmark things I'll remember Tim Follin for.

What about those guitar-sample-stuff from Skate or Die, or Test Drive? :)

Hubbard and some Galway tunes are obligatory. I agree Matt Gray would have some fitting tunes. I would also suggest they check out songs from Benn.

Daglish has some tunes that could be converted into (symphonic) metal. Take for instance the Deathwish III tune, you could do something heavy with that bass riff.
