Are there any new AWESOME RPG games for the C64?
Hello,
I am wondering are there any new awesome complete RPG games developed for the C64 that are action/RPG games or similar to console styles, etc? It would be greatly appreciate it if someone can help me in this regard, if there is can someone list me all the AWESOME new RPG games developed here? If not can anyone direct me to a new source that is developing games for C64, specifically in the RPG department? Thanks in advance. |

Hey foody,
Awesome and new action RPGs? None that I know of, but awesome, yes -- if you have not done so yet, I recommend playing Project Firestarter, Zombi, Shadowfire and Enigma Force. Less story, but more detailed tactical combat can be found in Lords of Chaos and Laser Squad.
Sorry about bringing out the old ones, just in case you missed any of 'em before. The C-64 never was a platform for "console RPGs", but these are the substitutes that might be fine for a person of that leaning. And if you expect way more on the story side, non-linearity and still some tactics to combat, our game project, Ultimate Newcomer, is something to look forward to.
-Yes, that was the mandatory shameless self-promotion bit. \;b>

Loads of Chaos is really amazing and when I first played it I was really surprised by its level of complexity.
Try to find some doc or an original in case you like it! |

Shadow of the Evil looks really promising. But since I suck at RPGs, I never got any far in it. If you think you are an expert for that game, please contact me. |

Hmmm.
Master of Magic
Dragon World
Neuromancer
Zak McKrakon
Those are a few I was addicted to "in the day". I still find myself sitting back and playing Neuromancer every now and again. |

foddy, I second The Phantom about Master of Magic -- that game is really similar to some early console RPGs (on the gameplay mechanism side, but without the SD bits and the cuddly factor).
-It has excellent music by Rob Hubbard as well. I completed it twice.
The Phantom: Did you mean Dragon Wars by "Dragon World"? That was a game very similar to Bards Tale, in a much more advanced iteration. Still I stopped playing it because it did not measure up to Wasteland as far as real focus on character skills rather than just combat and non-linearity goes.
So Wasteland is one more recommendation to foddy.
Neuromancer might quite well fit with a classic console RPG player's expectations but it replaces the combat element with hacking.
Zak McKraken&Co are point&clickeys, way off the computer RPG / console RPG genre.

Definitively MagerValp's cracks of this series are worth to check out. |

@ Hoild - Yes, I meant Dragon Wars, haha. Been so long since I played the game. I played it for a while, but was sidetracked into demos and the like.
I was involved with DRACONIS (sp?) for quite some time. I think I was more involved with Katakis, but that's a shooter.
Are we counting Text games here too?
