C64 Demoscene PPT presentation
Hi all!
I'm going to give a 45 minutes presentation about C64 demoscene (yes in my work we are encouraged to talk about our hobbies/lifestyles at monthly talks and now its my turn)
what will you show(slides), highlight or not mention at all(I guess DK's porn stuff :P)
the audience: tech people (around the world), who probably had c64 back then...
it needs to be entertaining, because i've seen other presentations with interesting subject when they totaly wasted the potential.
so?

Go through the top 10 demos on the right, plus some classics not to be missed, e.g.Access Denied; can you show short clips? Otherwise the best scrrenshots. A bit of tech talk like NUFLI and stuff, emulators (even on the frekkin' iphone! ;), perhaps mention some of the nifty new hardware like 1541Ultimate; coolest thing would be of course if you could set up a real one! :-) |

IMHO that'd be the perfect way to bore them to death =P
i would try to (re)introduce them to c64 stuff first - show some old games they might remember, and then point out how they happen to come with crack intros. then show some of the well known crack intros (triad, flt etc) and maybe go on with one or two simple classic demos that emerged from it. and then show two or three "top" demos - but choose them wisely. things that are hot for "us" are not necessarily interesting for the uninitiated. |

I would suggest you do this in Prezi instead (www.prezi.com). It's a "zooming" presentation engine which gives a bit more life to the presentation. Also it can handle YouTube clips flawlessly (where as PowerPoint is pain in the ass when it comes to video). More over, Prezi uses a mind map model as base instead of a linear slide show, which in many cases is a more efficient way to give something structure.
It's quite awesome, I use it exclusively now instead of PowerPoint or KeyNote.

A bit of shameless self-ad, but i still find that this 4k of mine gets the point across to non-techies pretty well:

Especially if you take the 4K and convert them into a 64x64 bitmap and put that on a slide. |

Even 32x32 assuming png-format using RGBA-pixels. :) |
