Looking for qualified trustworthy sceners to update database?
Some time ago Enthusi and I talked about creating a web based database for c64 gfx. Intentionally just for blabla but during the last two weeks the idea took shape and became an existing website.
c64pixels.com
What we really need is content. And therefore we need your help.
To maintain the aspired high quality of the database we follow a strict data format and everyone helping us is required to provide the images and data according to a specific scheme (details via PM). Sounds more severely as it is. We just want to take this job seriously to build up a huge graphics collection showing as much graphical variety of the c64 world as possible from the mid 80ies till now.
So please join us :)

awesome project. :)
some usability nitpicking: the next, last, etc. (>,>>) buttons are too small and badly placed. page numbers are too small aswell, and active page is not indicated. clicking on the picture I'd expect seeing it in bigger form and comments / votes, not a selection of the artist's works. that should be reachable by clicking on the artist's name.
edit: csdb link is only visible in the artist's sort. :P |

What will the site offer over and above CSDb? |

Proper screen dumps and custom searchable tags for one. :) (Which is great!) |

strictly speaking the site is not supposed to be something like an 8 bit pixeljoint or something like that. it is a gallery, for browsing, comparing different styles, get some retro entertainment - eg. commercial based games artworks in the user area... offering constant quality for the screenshots, crosswise linked keywords and with growing topic based groups (like mermaid's girl and dog characters).
in fact there will be no comments or votes on that site. imo csdb is the place for this. there are too few votes in avarage here anyway, so there is really no need for a second one. the whole content data on c64pixels is processed analogue to csdb and every scene release is linked to its db entry here. |

yeah, and who would want to browse pictures through csdb's advanced search, its a nightmare, and you dont even get thumbnails.
I bet Perff could code up a gallery function that would look like c64pixels, in a few days if he'd care... Perff, please? |

why not having screenshots at search page for all releases (which have screenshots) instead of graphic releases only? |

I'll repeat myself: csdb really should have a gallery function, instead of forcing sceners to make double work with c64pixels. |

Great initiative!
Hope we can get back to the topic of finding reliable sceners to help the team. (rest: take your nagging elsewhere) |

This is very nice!
A gallery function in CSDb isn't too necessary: from maintaining point of view, I like the C64pixels idea better.
We shouldn't strive for the all-in-one-mega-universal database. Too bloated. |
