Games created with Action Replay monitor

I created this topic since my `omega120 games` topic has been closed for some reason, If any you coders out there codes with a `Action Replay` monitor I would like you to contribute to this thread of the amount of coding you may have done with the cartridge, I myself as many of you may be aware I created and wrote `Manky` with `Action Replay` monitor and very soon you can expect from my website update6 `Manky` a very playable I am sure version of the game with a few surprises in store for you all.

Steppe: You know that I respect you for what you do in your professions and that I know you and everyone (and myself) are pissed off with this omega120 guy, but without upsetting you, PLEASE don't take advantage and make fun of people with ASD. It is a common disease on the increase and there are more children that are diagnosed with it now, I know many people who have this condition and have experienced how they cope with life... and believe me it is not a very nice thing to see. A lot of them get very little support and I have heard people call them "retards", "mongs", "spackers" and many other insulting names for a condition that can not be cured.

Sorry, but I'd thought I'd warn you and any others who like to now and again use innocent retards as an insult to one particular idiot.

odd thread again but well.
I thought 3 mins about playing "it" but didnt even find a link through all this and other postings. I can live with that.
In fact I see nothing BAD about his attitude to use his monitor. Sure it cant well be defended but after all he is enjoying it. I recall disliking crossdeving alot. Maybe fear for new OR c64-coding is all about nostalgic feelings. I wouldnt want to code in java for 6502 either. Even if it would not suck. And that aside, crossbow is known to use only monitor (smon iirc?) for what he does. Be it demo-effect, gfx or game! The youtube-vid certainly demonstrates the quick try-and-error-cycle :) damn, I ran parts of the code a hundret times to get timings rights. Others NEED to precalc these things on paper and in the end the results may be more profound. What I disliked about cross-dev was that people cut and paste routines they dont even understand (anymore). I can see how using a rudimentary monitor can be fun. No matter the downsides. And well, this game may have bugs and may remain this way - so what? If HE likes it - and apparently he does: enjoy your work omega120! Though others may not :o)

if you take a closer look at the photo he just came in third place. that's why he's looking a little sad, i guess.

i must second enthusi. except for the fact that i like java as programming language. ;)

some people just like the feeling of filling the memory of their beloved machine by hand. monitor is the closest yet comfortable way doing this. i guess it's not the result that counts here.

it's the same with doing gfx on/for c64. some people are still doing all pixel work on the real machine. some (like me) are using pc based tools like 0xpaint, timanthes, ...
being a retard for me starts when either somebody is poking a bitmap into memory by hand or when just stupidly using converters. but i'm afraid to see that using converters gets more and more common. maybe some day people will laugh at me saying 'why are you still setting pixels by hand, when you can just take a photo and convert it!?'

in the end it's always about 'the feeling' when it comes to dealing with a vintage platform like the 64.

it might not be the most sophisticated way omega120 is doing his work. but still i think it's all about that certain feeling.

so, let this guy do his thing. ignore him if you like. support him if you like. i don't really care.

have a nice day! :)

To defend Steppe here: I don't feel he makes fun of people with ASD, he just states that he's under the impression Omega120 might be such a person. Frankly, the thought crossed my mind too (I know somebody who has it, and Omega120 reminds me of him).

If it's all about the programmer having fun and fuck the players then perhaps the games shouldn't have been released...

TDJ, you nailed it down precisely. I wasn't trying to make fun of him by assigning such a disease to o120, merely trying to shed some light on the whole situation from a different angle.

Aw, didn't I say I wanted to ignore all that!?! Must - resist - urge - to read stupid threads! ;-)
