What's you favorite?
A number of times I've been surprised when listening to tunes that for some or the other reason have been suggested for listening by other users of this forum. I thought that some of you would like to share some of your favourites with the rest of us. It could probably broughten our horizons and at least let people hear some tunes that haven't gotten the attention they disserve. Anyone up for it? |

That Demo "ALL AGAINST AARON" sounds quite nice, too !:==
I still can`t imagine where all these Harmonys and Baselines come from.? - Outer Space ??, the Human Brain ?? Does anyone know that??:) But one thing is for sure, if I ever go on a holiday with my parents again, I`ll buy an Ipod and load it with tonns of sids, launch that green light in my tent and stay there playing chess against an Angel called Jack Tramiel , eating chips`n drinking Coca Cola ..... |

Growing up with rambones as my brother definitely had some side effects ;-) ..now, I won't comment on his music other than to say that there are some tunes from him really worth a listen.
One of the side effects was a LOT of Laxity music. Some of my favorites being AIDS Trouble, Broken Ass and New Limits (incl. the Kaze tune by the same name), but there are too many to mention.. I once brought a base channel only recording of Fight TST II to school to have a base player in my class learn the Crazy Comets baseline :)
Moving more than a decade into the future, X2004 caught my attention music wise again with the awesome tunes from the music compo. Those who were there know what I'm talking about. If you don't, you should seriously check out the 8 top tunes of that compo! I frequently relive it. ;-)
The SID compo on c64.sk last year yielded some really cool tunes too. A couple of pieces that really caught my attention were Dazzy Levstovski by Crome, Lemmie Eat The Rastertime by Booker and Valley of Dreams by Phase 2.
My all time favorite though, is a tune I listened too a lot just around the time I met my wife. Ironically considering its name, but this is one of those tunes I find work for both good and bad times equally well. I find it equally interesting every time I hear it and every time it ends I'm equally annoyed. The ending just lets you hang wanting for more, which is kind of brilliant (although annoying) ;-)
Depressed by Laxity - I want more!
Will there ever be a part 2 continuing that killer ending?

My definite favourite tune must be Physician, credited to Hithouse. I remember when being a kid, I did not have much knowledge about what was going on in the computer, but I had a demo which had this tune. I remember loading the demo up and having it to play in the background while I did other things.
Strangely, in that demo it was credited to Reyn Ouwehand, and when I found out about sidtunes and the HVSC, I downloaded it and found the tune in his directory after some searching. However, after that, they've changed the credits for this tune and I would probably never have found it if I didn't know the name of it.
Another tune I find myself listening to a lot is Keepsake by Flash, which I found just by luck, browsing through the \various dir in HVSC. It is so totally rocking on an 8580 that it's unbelievable. I love the deep bass and the great melody. Pump up the volume! More! MORE!! ..

I went through most of the TRC stuff to find a tune for Sidhunt, and I ripped a lot from Ouwehand, Hithouse, Defbeat and Iron Cat. Some tunes were used more than once, and credited to different composers. We've asked them to be sure who did these tunes. :)
There's some more in Hithouse' dir that is really nice:
/VARIOUS/G-L/Hithouse/Digital_Dreams.sid
/VARIOUS/G-L/Hithouse/Mamba_Remix.sid
and in Defbeats dir aswell:
/VARIOUS/A-F/Defbeat/Moonlight.sid
/VARIOUS/A-F/Defbeat/SCS_TRC_Intro.sid
/VARIOUS/A-F/Defbeat/TRC_Intro.sid
TRC surely had really cool composers! :) |

I can only agree with you, they sure had cool composers :) Those tunes are really sweet. I've been listening a lot to Mamba_Remix and SCS_TRC_Intro. The HVSC is a neverending source for inspiration and joy when it comes to work, creativity or whatever the reason you're sitting at your computer. |

The music from Oliver Kläwer is pretty interesting to me. Tim Kleinert also did some great stuff. |
