very interesting to read what everybody does for a job. I work in the music business nowadays, with 3 jobs.
my 'hobby' job is running my record labels which tries to promote unknown dutch bands and give them a step up.
My second job is my booking agency. I set up tours throughout Europe (mostly holland though)for bands from all over the globe. I work with bands like Fishbone, Aereogramme, Saian Supa Crew and Textures (and many many more).
Last, for a steady wage, i work as an assistant promoter at a venue in my hometown called Patronaat. I book bands in the venue, but i also prepare all of the productions.
Busy busy, but i love this work, it is like a dream come true. |

tdj, thanks for the link. really something, to hear jeroen singing, and more importantly - rhyming in blondie's 'rapture' manner, won't be the least bit surprised to hear him playing ocarina someday, after that. |

I work as a Linux developer for Nokia/OSSO (responsible for the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet and the Maemo application development platform), in the team that works with system performance, reliability, power management, and device state management. |

The first version of this demo had me rapping but the sound quality was too low .. or at least that is what Jeroen claims, I still think he wanted to replace me because he knows the rappers get all the pussy ;-) |

Personally I am not impressed by Jeroen's singing in this song. I have heard other stuff where he sings much better and not holding back at all. I think Jeroen is one of the most musically talented persons I have ever met... This song doesn't impress me - the best thing about it is the text ;) ... and Brenda's voice... |

I agree with you about Brenda's voice - she is one of the best singers I've ever heard, not just based on this song alone ofcourse. I've known her for about 10 years and have many other tracks by her, plus I've seen her performing several times.
And yes, Jeroen can do much better but please remember: this is just a demo, he was never meant to be the one doing the honours on the final track. The very first demo version (with me rapping) both parts were sung by Brenda.
As for my text: I can do much, much better as well, and I have, believe me ;) Like I wrote earlier, this is one of the first times I tried 'real' song lyrics instead of rap lyrics, and it shows. |

I used to work with composing and producing music fulltime at Funcom in Oslo some 10 years ago. I left the job to be together with my girlfriend (now wife), and I guess I was a little bored with it. After that I took an education to become a teacher, worked as a programmer for a company that did games for XBox, PS2, Gameboy Advance etc. (made my first game - for the GBA.. .. yiha!). Unfortunately the company went bust, and I had to find myself teaching kids for half a year before I luckily got my current job (I love networking)....
Today I work as a senior programmer with a company that makes games for mobile phones (TAO, go down that hall and kick those guys that implement sound in j2me in the nuts - will ya?!).. On the side of that I do audio projects here and there when they pop up and I have the time. I play some music too, and had a few records out with a band a couple of years ago (not my music) - didn't hit though ;)

Not much computerrelated for me.
I have worked with all kinds of things, for a swedish organization promoting the usage of condoms, as a substitute teacher, in a bar in London, ... The longest work experience I had though, was in a cooled warehouse driving the forklift and doing some stockkeeping.
I have also been studying quite a lot of philosophy (of science, ethics, history, political, cognitive) and might continue bits of that, though I am now mainly studying to be a physician (medical doctor). I started those studies up north in Umeå, but am as of this autumn continuing them in Odense. Reasons for the move was that my girlfriend since four years started her medstudies here in January and also the improved climate (I am from the south myself). |
