Screenshot sizes

I asked this a year ago or something, but never got a reply. Would it be possible to increase the maximum screenshot size on release pages to 404x292 (full border setting in VICE)?

Quote: Mace: Would you please elaborate on why anyone'd not want to show the entire border area as it looks on the real machine?

I'm sorry to say this, but I haven't ever seen a c64 that shows the same area as full border setting in vice.. not even on the BP'08 bigscreen...

The thing is, that many releases in the past (especially the old stuff) had not really been checked for raster-timing bugs and they would likely expose on a screenshot in full/debug border, which would ruin the attraction imo. Not everyone had a commodore monitor to check those things.

It can go for stuff that had been full-border examined though, I guess.

404x292 is abit excessive, particularly the number of visible lines at the top of the screen- i wonder how the vice team calculated these values, even the vic article by Christian Bauer says that the vic-II displays 284 lines.

The Philips CM-8833-II and Commodore 1901 monitors certainly do, at least horizontally.

They didn't, Krill coded the border patch. And there's this post where HCL details his findings as well.

i'd rather like to see people using pal emulation for screenshots :)

Speaking of PAL blending, the old one in Vice is quite unexact as it does not take into account which colour is on odd or even lines. In the new one in VicePlus it does it more acurate but slow as fuck :/

the funny thing is, the speed thing is a genuine windows problem.... install linux in vmware and run viceplus there - and it will be a lot faster (!).

gpz: how about we get an Add PAL Filter button on the edit page? :)

Hmm, with javascript and the canvas it could probably even be done client side... :)

I think screenshots without PAL look much more attractive.

For me, the whole screenshot thing on CSDb is perfectly ok.
No need to change.

The thing is, screenshots showing the border look like shit with todays dimension limits. It's a very small tweak that won't affect layout noticably, why not do it?
