Best SID instrument?
Well, topic kinda says all.
The tune itself doesn't have to be good at all, only the instrument(s). ;)
'Impulse' by Taki has some pretty awesome 16x drums.
And just to make it a bit less complicated to choose instruments: NO SAMPLES.

@Randall, Jammer: Yes, Goto80 and Hein! Total opposite sound direction (IMO) but their sounds are awesome. |

I like the $41 with just a little sweep on it, and a little vibrato :)

Quoting PALI kinda always loved the whistling sound at 01:56 in FAME_01.sid ... I really think it is that good that I can even mention it within this thread... tjihi... oldschool you....
I find it strange that no-one else think this is great... silly me... to the instrument that is... |

Yeah, the Fame_01.sid whistle. Been listening to it the other day and thought: "Man, that's a great whistle! Gotta post it in the Best SID instrument thread on CSDb!" But then you beat me to it, PAL! ;-) |

I like the fat tom-tom sound which Hubbard used a lot. Also the snare sound in his later tunes is nice. |

How about the bass sound in sinful.sid by DRAX from Chorus' Unicorn demo...?
I've always liked that one - it sounds to me like an upright double bass type sound. |
