once i was asked to run demos in the background during a live gig, and i think borderline worked best |

yes, there is such a way... more than 1 even:
1 - hook up a c64 to your TV, but make the signal go through a DVD-recorder and record that way.
2 - send the signal of your c64 into your PC and use a capture-program to record.
3 - use an emulator and a screen-capture program. |

I'd go with Knoeki's second suggestion. I used to record demos with a C64 connected to my TV card. Got very accurate graphics/sound quality with that method. |
