dunno which one is THE longest/biggest but digital messiah-megastyle and cucumber juice 2/hitmen both was around 25minutes long (slow loaders in them afaik though :/).

CountZero told me once, that during his time in "Talent" they made a demo which lasts an hour or so. Dunno the name, though...

@ Ninja, well, it seems you didn't look here on CSDb for that demo? :-) It's simply called "Demo Talent".

cucumber juice 2 is 27mins (if anyone cares :=P) :O) ... its not only because of the (admittedly slow) loader though... there were simply too much parts :o)

Krestology is long. "The Place in space" by Taboo is also very long, but it's quite worth watching all those old routines and listening to those musics.

A lot of old demos from before 1990 are certainly very long. Just as long as you don't press the space bar. ;-)

Yeah, but it's still easy to cheat that even without scrollers. Just put long running effects, 100 vector objects or slowly calculated fractals :P

Or an easy cheat would be something like:
10 poke1024,255*rnd(1):goto10

I guess it would work, not checked it and been sooo long since I used rnd.

My "dark tales/focus" demo used the random function to generate what I called "vector mosaic", I once calculated it would take over 2 years to see all of the possible permutations. Funny thing is, the scrolltext takes almost as long to read :)

Cycle/Booze - it runs forever.

Btw, wonder if there has ever been made a demo that fills more than 2 disksides.

Back in '94 we started working on a demo that would be 4 disksides, consisting of 4 smaller 1 sided demos made by different teams. There were enough of us to pull it off, but apart from lots of previews, nothing came out of it.

I still have most of the parts, maybe I should release it as "Antique Part(s) 2" or something :)

No Sander, that was a joke .. put down that axe ..

atleast the 2 smash designs-demos 'fight against racism' and 'west light' are using 3 disksides...and i think watching krestology/crest without the third site is not possible.
syndrom/tia/crest once even told me that crest was planning a demo containing 12 disksides (1 for each constellation), but i think that was just a rumour :)

All scrollers have to end at some point (or loop). You could say Red Storm is long if you were to read the long long scoller at the the Red End.

I just checked Midnite Movie out, never seen that demo before. The demo is not all that long, although there are some interesting parts in there. Another demo with full screen static :)

I couldn't see a date in there, although judging by the music -Demo Talent- must be quite old. The demo is ok, i don't quite understand the reason for using the same part twice on both disk side 1 & disk side 2 though?. The Ryu picture by Electric, it's an ok image, although for an Electric picture it's one of his worst, i guess it must have been among his first efforts. I liked the whole Pulp Fiction thing though, and the Turn Disk pt. i though was really entertaining :)

"The Big ZCF-Demo" from 1987 (I think) have a lot of parts and uf you read all the scrollers it should last at least 30 minutes.....

BTW: It was the first demo ever to completely fill every last block of a floppy :o)

I can't remember the name, but I know there is a demo with a scrolltext that fill almost the entire memory. The text is crunched to 7 bits per letter, which makes it a VERY long text.
If you consider a text wrap as the end of a part, this might be one of the longest demos... ;-)

7 bits... ? 128 different chars? Still quite a lot. Sure it isn't 4-5 bits or something?

Mace: Hmmm, "McDonald's Restaurant" by Crest has a world record scrolltext part. Takes quite a while to read it...

I also recall some of the Wonderland demos (9?) by Censor has a few pretty long parts? for example that Dankomusicspaceeyeballscroller with rotating stick-part...

Are there any "1581" demos, with a 3.5" floppy filled to the brim?
I can't recall any 5.25" demos being longer than 2 disc sides, so anything filling a 3.5" disc beats them all.

I believe there are one or two 4 sided (5.25") demos... dunno which though. Also, Desert Dream is 3 disksides big.

Well. I actually have all my demo's still on tape, but they were saved in 'superturbo' format (Action replay) and i have had problems in transferring the data. Maybe tapes are warped etc.

The only person who has all this transferred and converted to disk as far as i know (including five of my other tape multiloader (eg Fantastic 1,2,3,4 & 5)) is Kenz / Binary Zone PD

Nice nostalgic stuff there all coded via AR monitor + multichannel digistuff etc etc

The countdown for the bonus part in Krestage 3 takes about a month. Guess that might count for something.
