Driven 4K Compo
I read in another post that Yago was interested in another Driven 4K compo.. good news Yago, and those of you who are 4K fans :)
It looks like there will be one this fall. It hasn't been officially announced yet but the info should be in Driven #31. Some of the rules can be found at drivenonline.org in the forum. |

Yeah, nice News.
The forum at drivenonline.org is called "The Wall" and requieres registering.
For those who are too lazy to register:

Ok, it seems highly likely we'll have both the time and capability for showing off a set of 4k entries at some point during SWRAP event (September 17). It appears there's enough interest here to get us 5 or 6 entries at least, especially if Retro64 comes through with 3 just from them! We'll have an official announce/rules in the next issue of Driven (and on the frontpage at the same time). Til then plan on at least the following minimal details so you can all get started:
- all demos must run on a stock NTSC (65 cycles per line) c64 or c64c with no addons.
- entires must be loadable and runnable (load"bah",8,1; run).
- demo must take up maximum 4096 bytes of memory immediately after loading, of course it can depack upon 'run'.
- no you dont really need to name the demo 'bah'.
- entries taken via email are great, you wont need to be present at SWRAP to enter
The additional option of having a 4k art/music event is a possibility again but I wonder how many people will enter then if we do. 4k art can be challenging and a lot of people could enter something but the possibility for a number of music entries seems minimal.
Perhaps we can get a feel for 4k art interest here with some more responses?
Finally we wouldnt rule out a seperate 4k event using DTV perhaps...

4K Competition
Is it a go? Yah or Nah?
When are entries due?
Can data be (packed) spread out in memory or must data be all together?
Could anyone from Driven answer this? |

You should probably ask on the Driven Online forums, in fact I believe all your questions would be answered there. |

Last I heard the compo was a go. They are going to do the judging at the SWRAP Expo. Info for the expo is at http://swrapexpo.org/
Data can be compressed all you want, the final file size just needs to be 4k or less.
I'm not sure of the exact date they're due, but it's somewhere around Sept 16-17 area I believe.. |
