Out of Retro Replay?
After 15 years on the same hardware, i decided to buy myself a RetroReplay + RR-net. Mainly to transfer alot of disks that i found on the attic while we moved to our new flat :). Now i can not find a place to buy one! gurumeditation.se is out of stock, and ar.c64.org seems to be dead since ages. WHERE!?!?!? Please help me! |

HCL, as I said, a crossed cable is enough, you don't need a hub or any extra gear. Just separate the IP adresses of your 2 network cards in the PC (the DSL one gets like 192.168.0.1, the one connected to the C64 gets 192.168.1.1). Then assign 192.168.1.64 to the C64 and it should work fine.
At least this is how it worked for me, and I can be considered a networking idiot as well. ;-) |

A decent network card doesn't care for crossover or not :) |

Now that explains that it works with a cable that I remember being not crossed! And I thought my memory was just a little flakey maybe. 8-) |

Quote: Naah, basically just want to make sure that I can connect my rr-net to my laptop .. so even a 2 port hub (if they exist) would be enough ;)
2 port hub := crosscable, you lazy bugger.
I'll bring one.
David : I'd like LDASTA network aswell!!

Not lazy, cheap .. because I don't want to pay for something I'll never need anymore.
Btw, I probably do own a crosscable but it's lost in this thing called 'attic' I have at home .. |

Super-guru-boy made my day! Not by letting me win that game of squash, but he easily clicked my network working. My home network is now ultimate and complete! I will start sucking all my disks ;). Even Super-guru-boy (alias Swallow/Censor) was a bit impressed how far todays technology has reached on the c64, so maybe he'll let me suck his disks as well.
And better than that.. When everything was working, i found the Contiki-disk that followed the hardware. That thing is just soooo sweet! I think Super-guru-boy will soon convert from linux to Contiki, as it has everything you need! He also clicked some check-boxes in IE to connect to the contiki web-server. Super-internet!! It was christmas again!! Hehe.. Multitasking OS on the c64, it's just swell. I clicked to transfer the whole d64 to my laptop, it took more than 7 minutes :). However, meanwhile i started the dir.prg and my diskdrive got really busy for a while ;))), but it f**kn worked!

No no HCL, you got it all wrong. Trident is not king, trident is USED by a king (king Neptune) to be exact. |
