Demos not working on Real C64

The following demos don't work on my real c64 :

Royal Arte/Booze Designs
Nine/Reflex
Irrational/Chorus
Death and Glory/Covenant

Always when I load them my c64 hangs up in the first or second part of the demo. Already have tried to load them with another c64 and also with another power supply. I have even copied the demos to other discs in the case that the discs are damaged. On Emu those demos work fine though.

Anyone can help me? I wanted to enjoy those demos on the real c64.

All work fine on my C64 also (old style breadbin, 1983). I've particularly seen Royal Arte crash on many machines, though...

Disconnect all additional drives. Turning them off is often not enough.

sounds that this is a loader problem. try other drives.

Another tip: remove cartridges.
Esspecially the Final Cartridge 3 is a nasty lil old bugger.

No need to remove FC3... just enter "KILL" before starting the demo. Also, AR is not exactly more compatible.

i remember one of xbows onefilers (might have been back to the roots...not sure) worked on fc3, but on ar it crashed EVEN if you killed the cart, you *had* to physically remove it.

I'm using a 1984 C64 with 1541 and RetroReplay+RR-Net, just transferred the D64 with WarpCopy 0.5 in fast-IEC mode (it took ~29seconds per side)... I didn't disbled my RR... The demo just worked fine for me.
I managed to switch to ActionReplay MK-IV... no problems either.
Maybe you just have crappy discs... or you simply need to clean your drive head.

I don't believe that. Would you mind finding that file? :D

you should ask deekay...maybe he remembers exactly which one it was, graham probably does too. finding the actual file might be difficult, since xbow fixed it quickly when i complained about it :)

Oneder also turns off the AR hardware in the beginning of the demo because the demo would crash later on. The reason was an AND (zp,X) which i used to waste 6 cycles in 2 bytes. Sometimes the high byte of the adress would be $DE, and accessing (also reading) $DE00-$DEFF with active AR = crash.
