wtf splitted files

Ágain i come across one of these Zip files that only contain files starting with 1!N_PART, followed by 2!N_PART and so on. Mostly 4 files.

Sometimes, i found out they are self extracting disk images. But they didnt run. Any clue?

these are "zipcode". they can be converted to d64 using various tools, for example starzip (which comes with starcommander)

I agree zipped files are quite annoying. I have removed those I have come across and replaced them with a normal .d64 image. Please feel free to use this thread to point out all you come across and I'll see to it that those entries get a proper .d64 image.

Anyone remember a version of zipcode, called AR zipcode? I got it in a mail trade years ago, it's not a major release, but it would take advantage of either a SuperSnapshot or a Action Replay cart to unzip at a higher speed. I know I used it alot in the 90's when I was using Novaterm and d/ling my a$$ off. Made the unzipping chore virtually painless.

My preference is not to remove the ZIPped uploads, but just to add the D64 as well.

I don't like the idea of removing stuff from CSDb that is perfectly okay, despite that it's just a bit hard to use :-)

IIRC, Zipcoded disks retain the sector ID bytes, so they do contain more information than a D64.

nope, only one disk-id is saved...and even that is optional. (and i'm pretty sure that even when its saved its taken from the directory, so it isnt very useful at all)

@DemongerX: I remember this. I mostly used that one BAM Zip V1.0 pretty handy and I think quick as well.

If I remember correctly, I got Ar. Unzip from Steve of Zenith. I know it worked fine, but it was frozen when you first loaded it, then I hit my reset button on the cart, and it unfroze it. I think I also got it in a toolz collection as well, maybe a zipcode compilation, though I'm not sure of that.
