Guess the demo
Hi peeps,
I'm looking for a demo which featured this tune (amongst others):
http://www.c64.org/HVSC/FAME/Hendriks_Michael/FAME_1.sid
it was a multipart demo, probably contained in only one file (it was a multiload demo if I remember incorrectly)
the part featuring the linked tune had some sprites bouncing on a weird sinus, and IIRC there was a scroller too in this part (if not in this part then it was still in this demo but in another), the scroller had big letters, and each letter was movingly stretched vertically. It was rather a character anim and no sprite stretch.
then another part I remember was a sideborder dysp with x expanded multicolor sprites, the sprites were grayscale, and under the sprites there was a raster, it even featured splits (IIRC).
well it was about 14 years ago I last time saw this demo sorry for the blurry memories. |

ok trying to be more specific.
that scroller could stretch vertically each letter on screen differently. the background was black, the letters were white, and sometimes the Y size of the letters was moving so that the scroll looked like a sine wave. the scroller was on the upper part of the screen and below it was some gfx probably a logo. |

Megaparts
Megaparts 2
because michael hendriks didn't got credited here I can't tell for sure whether it's megaparts 1or megaparts 2 ur seeking. I should have a look into it myself. 8) |

no, tho it would help if I could find fame on csdb, maybe he is credited for that demo.. but it may be that this demo is not even on csdb... AFAIR its a one file multipart demo, and I guess it is from around 88. |

the scroll looked roughly like this:
the letters were the same size horizontally about 6-8 chars wide each, and only their height was changing.
the effect was made out of chars it was not a sprite stretch, so it was in hires resolution and the letters were somehow animated. |

Funny.. this thread reminds me of http://www.songtapper.com/
If a tune gets stuck in you head and you dont know its name, you just go to the website and tap the rhythm of the song with your spacebar and then it gives you a list of possible songs. It would be nice to get demotapper.com *S* |

While we're a bit offtopic...
Cool page! I wonder if it has a very bad engine, or I'm just a really bad tapper... :)
I tried 10 songs, and it didn't recognize any of them...
(but those songs I tapped were in their database, though.)

Apperently the Star Wars overture was written by George Lucas. I didn't know that. Maybe Homer Simpson wrote the title music for The Simpsons. :) |

@yodelking: try to hold down the spacebar for the time a long note is played.
i tried out "mack the knife" by kurt weil while listening to the tune on mp3. and it worked on the first try. :)
but what is this demo oswald is searching for? during my investigations i allready watched all level 99, some zone 45, ... demos. :-|
oswald, do you remember any more details about the group? from what country was it? i tried a lot of german demos from that certain period which i thought could have a tune by mike/fame. but still no match. :( |

I guess you are right, it is a bad engine. It kind of a sport to get a tune right.. But thats quite fun. I think I got it to recognize 5 tunes..
Laxity: Hey.. I tried Starwars too :-) (John Williams who?) |
