VICE - Multiple Monitors & ..Monitor
Hey
So sligt matter which is driving me nuts... On my regular setup (Win11 + laptop + dockstn + 2 x 4k montors) I have VICE showing on one of the 4k screens. The VICE monitor also then pops up there when invoked.
The issue is - If I disconnect the dockstn, the laptop screen becomes the new main display and vice show up there instead (so far so good). Problem is if I invoke the VICE monitor, it pops up on the 4k screen which is no longer connected. WIN-KEY+CRSR trick OR Right-Click on VICE monitor in the task bar and selectng move (gives the "cross-arrow" mouse cursor) and click onto the laptop screen does not work. Have not tried to delete the VICE ini/cfg file but was hoping to avoid this. Another workaround is of course to move VICE + VICE monitor onto the laptop screen before unplugging it but this is often (if not always) forgotten.
TLDR: Is there an easy way to move the VICE monitor from a disconnected screen in Win11 without replugging the screen and manually moving it or deleting the VICE ini file?
Edit: Found a way:
ALT + TAB until VICE montior is active
ALT + SPACE to open the VICE monitor aplication menu
USE CRSR keys to select "move" in the context menu
Use cursor keys to "move the window". <- Critical step, the mouse will not grab it nless you fiddle with the CRSR keys first.
The mouse has now grabbed it and you can drop it where you want.
The aforementioned rightl click on taks bar application will probably also work, but have to fiddle with the CRSR keys to actually grab it with the mouse (not tested).
Thread can be closed. |

Thanks for the workaround! I've also been struggling with the same problem. |

You could also remove the saved window positions from the config file. Or use the respective commandline options for that matter:
-windowxpos X
Set window X position
-windowypos Y
Set window Y position
-windowxpos1 X
Set secondary window X position
-windowypos1 Y
Set secondary window Y position

I hardly use a mouse for navigating windows. Windows +shift+ left or right arrow works well in those situations.

This was regarding Win11 (some shit has been messed up by this version (fx. UBC/Firewire to drive video and some other sotfware working fine on win10 refusing to work on 11).
I'll try out the WIN/CRSR thing @ next oportunity (althoug I think I already did).
and @ GPZ: noted, thanks. |

I use Win 10 and 11 with these keyboard shortcuts to manage window positions. |
