Old Skool - Charset Logos
Hi everyone, I'm using padua-gfx-convert to get my koala logo converted to a 'charset'.
btw: I'm a new c64 'coder' - so go easy.
I was hoping someone could fill me in about this method.
Essentially what I want to do is create a old type intro with a logo created in koala, convert it to a 'charset' and then use some raster bars to wave about as the colours etc...
Do I load a charset, convert the piccy and then save the charset and thats it? Or save the screen? or both?
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks in advance for taking time out for a novice.
Cheers!

Hi and welcome!
What you have to do,is load the koala picture.
When you convert it to char,it will also generate a screen.
Don´t forget to save the screen!!
Jigsaw-puzzles are easier to solve.
What the converter basically does,is making a charset out
of your picture.
The screen is the ´text´ you need to show it correctly.
Please note that you´ll only have 255 chars (+1=space)available.
Good luck! |

I always found using centuri's logo-editor was much easier for this kind of thing.
If i remember it also loads koala pictures aswell.

That'll be CentAUri (Centauri) ;) And, yes, it loads Koala pictures. You will find it here Logo-Editor V1.2 (I believe this is a version to which someone added a tune?!)
Real graphicians despise it, but the tool also allows you to load another piece of graphics into the pixels of a particular colour.. |

I'm also using Centauri's Logo Editor for work on some graphics. If I have hires 1-color pic and I want to convert it to fonts I use bitmap-to-font by Impact as I good remember :)
IF you paint the logo remember that the logo must be done in 3 colours (4th is the border colour) and don't paint too complex logos because you will be not able to convert it to fonts. Only 255 different chars can be in one fonts bank.
load converted fonts to $2000, load screen, display screen, set the fonts ($d018), multicolor ($d016 if your logo is done in multicolor +$d022, $d023) and fill $d800 with the value from $08-$0f and enjoy :) easy as pie!
if you use standart hires converted logo to fonts you need only to display screen, set the fonts area in $d018 and colors in $d800. |

I made a pic 2 char tool last week for the coders who crossdevelop on PC (Windows).
You can convert up to 4 pics in to 1 charset.
Drop me a line if you want to use/test it.
