Parsing data from the internet via vice?
Hey guys,
Is it at all possible to retrieve data from internet web pages with vice? or any other c64 emulator for that matter?
Im trying to grab random data streams from various web pages for a c64 proggy Im writing.. But Im not at all sure if it's possible?
Any help appreciated!

Yes, you can.
But you have to do some coding work to get it all working.
Vice has the possibility to emulate the RR-Net and another ethernetcard for the C64 (Settings -> Cartridge/IO Settings -> Ethernet settings).
Assuming you are working from a Windows PC you need to install WinPcap (
http://www.winpcap.org/
) because Windows XP (afaik Win2k too) doesn't allow you to capture and send raw packets.
After you've done all that, you have to write your own TCP/IP stack for the C64.
Ninja/Dreams and Magervalp did a great job writing their own stacks which are available on the net.
For programming the RR-Net card I recommend you the RR forum:
http://rrforum.ath.cx/
Good luck.
