Who really invented 4x4 mode?

Ok so Graham made the first implementation of 4x4 that was useful in practise (Coma Light 12), but who was the first to invent 4x4 and to use 4x4 in a demo? I seem to remember something about Wrath Designs being the first to use it but I was quite absent from the scene in 1994 so I can't recall in which demo.

Anyone knows better?

that raises the question what exactly you mean by "4x4" (i assume 4x4 fli). eg there have been scrollers with 4x4 pixels loooong before 1994 :)

Of course I meant 4x4 scrollers, not 4x4 FLI :-P

Hollowman: wasn't Courtesy of Soviet released after Coma Light 12?

Who was comming up first with such kind of effect (4x4) scroller was crest in ice cream castle where they use a kind of eci mode to display a flipping fli logo.

I also coded such a scroller in 1992 never released it thou coz the group died before demo was ready.

Ok thanks for clearing this up. So it is Graham we should all blame then :)

Btw who was the first to do pixel-based effects in 8x8 or 8x4? First time I remember seing an 8x4-based effect was a rotator in an old Censor demo. Can't remember which though.

Btw who was the first to wipe his ass after taking a dump? First time I remember seeing this was when I accidentally opened the wc door on one of my parents. Can't remember which though.
