.PNG format stands for "Portable Network Graphics" on the PC. It is possible to convert .PNG into koala (depending on the gfx colouration used). However converting a .PNG image to a C64 Koala paint image can risk losing quality in colour or design. C64 can only handle 16 colours in Koalapaint, therefore your picture may look iffy.
There are many PC/C64 graphics transfering programs, but the one I seem to like the most is the GangED (GangEd 1.01) by The Gang. |

If it's drawn with C64 resolutions and attributes in mind, feed that file to Project 1 and just play with the brightnesses until the palette matches (oh, turn off the dithers too) and it can usually convert it. |

Can it handle more in other paint programs? |

palettes are editable, and there's contrast too to play with, and 5 types of different color filters:) |

for converts of any kind, i recommend you combining abilities of timanthes and project one. you resize, crop and convert colours in timanthes (for me it seems slightly better in this area) save as bmp or png and then import with project one (you have to set nearest colour in rgb space as the method of recognising the palette). the choice of your destination format depends of the pixel mode chosen before in timanthes (square or rectangle pixels). |
