Handle id #987 : The Magic Roundabout
Our beloved TMR has died losing the fight against CoVid-19 and its follow-up illnesses after over one year.
RIP Jason. I have always enjoyed your productions! You owe my deepest respect!
Quoting https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/health/coronavirus/leeds..
Jason - who had type II diabetes and asthma - was transferred into intensive care on April 3 last year and he had remained on that ward ever since.
During that time, he had had to fight for his life on numerous occasions after the virus ravaged his lungs, destroyed his kidneys and he went on to develop such severe stomach issues that he was still having to be fed intravenously when he died.

What an absolute tragedy for all of us, and especially for his family. :(
Rest In Peace, Jason. It was a pleasure meeting you at one of the Play Expo events and I always liked your oldschool demos and games. |

Gosh, this is a sad loss for the scene. He was a unique character for sure and a team mate many moons ago. I'll miss his scrollers and his keen eye for C64 style. |

He will be sorely missed.
Raise a glass to his memory and celebrate his work, these things at least can defy mortality. |

This is so sad, seeing him stand in the hospital after his uk record-stay in coronacoma really made me believe he could recover enough. So sad this isn't the case ;(
Jason, you were an awesome and truly original, creative scener. I will miss you very much. ;( |

Thats shocking. I have thought he has recovered, PM-ed with him a few weeks ago, when he left the hospital iirc.
He had such a positive and welcoming personality. We will miss you Jason. |

Really sorry to hear. I used to speak Jason a lot on IRC and I've met him a couple of times in person. I always enjoyed his writing and releases. He also coded the first proper scene production that my pixels appeared in! It's sad he won't be around anymore. |

Gutted, first got in touch with Jason whilst I was at uni and a thing called "email" was thrust into our midst. A true gent and my thoughts are with his family and friends. |

Life's not fair.
Had Covid myself. If it wasn't for the doctor who told me I was positive I would've never even known about it.
Thinking of his family and all the folks on this board who were mates with him ie aNdy, Kenz, Steve Day and all the rest I can't think of right now.
Rest in peace, Jason. |

So sad to hear the news.
He was a great guy, and a big part of Retro Gamer magazine with the homebrew section he had been writing since 2008.
Are there are any plans for a tribute demo?
Would be good to gather text/tributes from the scene together somewhere. |

RIP Jason.
When Mibri started his demo shows I read about TMR being in hospital with Covid-19 for 11 weeks! Time went by and I thought about him - how was he doing? But I couldn't really find any news about him. Now I am reading this...
So sad.
I have been using csdb for many years and I love the site!
I love reading about you guys, watching your productions - and I actually don't know ANY of you and haven't seen any of you "for real" - and yet I feel that I know you, somehow... ;-)
My condolences to TMRs family & friends. |

We didn't have much personal contact but I always enjoyed his passion and the style of his creations. I think he was an important member of our scene, so his fate makes me sad. My condolences to his family and friends! I played some of his games today, Vallation [16kb cartridge] got me hooked nicely. Thank you, Jason, it was a pleasure to have you with us! |

not much to say, others have said it before.. one of my first and oldest c64 friends. I feel glad I nagged him to write intros for me or get him to finish a demo a number of times.
the "93 megademo" was an example of how things were.. linked / crunched the demo in london.. called one of my dutch brothers (in another group) to upload it to the boards 10 minutes after it was done... and I got derby ram to spread it on disk also..
simpler times..
I do feel lucky to have known him. |

with regard to any demo / tribute.. too soon, to worry about such things.
do "pm" me (or contact me on farce bruk etc) if you wish to contribute at a later time, whatever form that takes.. whatever it be, when things aren't so fresh in our minds.
I know it would be apt / fitting due to Jason's love of demo related stuff, regardless of format, is all I can say. It'll get arranged for sure, just it needs thought / not rushed. |

Devastating if not entirely unexpected news. I literally cried when I saw him on that Sky News piece some months ago. I hope his missus and all his family are coping.
Top guy. Always had a moment for you, often when he wasn't even feeling great himself. I will miss him more than he probably realised and I know I'm far from the only one.
Spank you later Jason x
EDIT: I guess I'm playing Reaxion today <3 |

Was quite a shock to hear, in particular due to how it seemed he was improving later on at some point. I never had spoken to him before but he contributed to the scene and I am sure will be missed by many as well. |

He was an immensely talented programmer and a very friendly and helpful member of our scene town. I worked with him on several issues of Domination and Vandalism News as well as several game projects and scene bits and bops such as demos and graphic collections (as well as being fellow group mates for 4 or 5 years).
We'll miss you mate! Rest peacefully. |
