While participation is for fun and fame mostly, we're happy to let you know that there is another assembled EVO64 board (without the MOS chips) as a prize for the winner of the Demo Competition, courtesy of Darrel over there.
Also, as the tradition goes, Badgeman is once more sponsoring 3 stickers of your choice for the first places in each of the competitions.
Thank you for your support! |

Awesome show! Fantastic demos and music. Loved the talk on PETSCIII from the petscii org site and the live musical performances, hosts were entertaining too.
Strange technical issue during the Berzerk Double Agent demo possibly related to VICE. The Agent did not find any double Agents and hid in corners.
In real life the hardware can find them:
https://youtu.be/Przjoixu1Nc
You'll also see the rest of the choreographed demo where Robots and Agents walk down below and thru/behind tall [petscii] grass and other special Fx and Double Agents getting caught.
I did some testing and Denise finds more Double Agents than VICE or the real hardware.
This demo is interactive where the player can take control so it's possible VICE trapped a mouse as controller. Curious what version of VICE was used, 2.14 caught Double Agents in testing.
There is also a strange real hardware anomaly not present in emulation where the SID decided to be completely silent seemingly because some SID's I listened to from the HVSC earlier initialized it. Sometimes it's soft sometimes louder. |

Thanks for your kind words and your entry. Sorry that it did not run the way intended. I had really no way of telling what it was supposed to look like. And we did not run it from Vice, but from a real C64, as all of the demos when they were recorded.
We tried reaching out to you on Saturday via email, since the interaction part in your uploaded entry didn't work for me. As far as I can tell we didn't get a response. Granted I may have only tried using a Joystick at that point, but couldn't see any reaction either. Is it via the keyboard? Which keys?
The SID I used to record your entry was a 6581R4AR, which one were you using? |

Very cool Transmission64 uses a real C64! The playback is more intriguing. Maybe the Agent got stuck from trying to use the controller? The control scheme may be confusing because it's tandem with the AI taking over when the player lets go.
I think I have an earlier SID than the 6581R4 which could explain why it is silent sometimes.
Maybe slight timing differences between C64 models could cause this demo to behave differently as well. Interesting if the demo plays back differently on the different models, I used an early breadbox.
Another interesting fact is the demo was designed to dynamically switch the video mode between 60 and 30 Hz (50/25 PAL) during scrolling but I masked this feature so the Hz would stayed pegged for emus that have difficulty with the signal.
Sorry I did not see your email during the show, I'll share Denise's dynamic version as well. |

The more interesting question at this point is: where is the entry for this "demo"? |

I did an experiment on the Sound with Blue Max:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRnwYIgZmzE
Blue Max turned on the Sound in my early SID revision that was silent.
Blue Max turned on the instrument control panel too. I tested it when I took control near the end of the demo and dropped the index to 3 on the indicator just below the SID label.
This control adjusts the instrument arrays. The Sound becomes different with the different instrument sets in ways that may be different on your SID revisions or no doubt on the individual chips and even what was played before as we see here.
I think I have a 6581 R2. Will verify. |

Oh yeah, thank you so much for the experience. For sure I'm a huge friend of live parties but as a counterforce, online parties work just perfect.
As you can not always be there in person, events like Transmission64 with quality stream (and content) are very welcome offering another way to participate from home with only your undies on. :-) |
