Nope...
This isn't an older handle of The Omega Man. So don't link them together...

I was pretty certain they are the same, but I'm always open to other explanations...
If they are not, then there is a lot of sorting of credits to do in the TCS releases.

For example Omega Demo 1 says "Dave" and "All my demos are on CNET", which seems to imply it is written by Dave, but named Omega Demo.
Turbocopy/Crunch V3.0 says both updated by The Omega Man and adapted by Dave. Although Turbocopy/Crunch V2.0 only has the "adapted by Dave" part which makes it somewhat inconclusive.
Omega Demo 3 says it's by Dave, the sys-line says Omega Man. The style of it seems more consistent with Omega Man works.
These are some of the clues which has made me assume they are the same person.
Maybe there are better clues that prove or disprove this?
A release with a member list naming both for instance. |

Yes... Some releases have to be fixed. You can read in the Omega Man Trivia that he was cracking on the Spectrum even before the C64 was sold in the UK. And so he joined the TCS later, when Dave already cracked for this fabulous group.
Will talk to my old TCS mates and ask them about some help on this.

The interview with Barry Leitch on c64.com speaks about Dave Chiles/The Omega Man as Dave.
It seems that the Dave Chiles name is correct for The Omega Man at least.
That The Omega Man cracked on the spectrum before he joined TCS doesn't necessarily mean he is not Dave. It could just be a naming confusion.
It is a quite interesting piece of history, so I hope we can find a conclusive answer for it...

Once again...
Dave Chiles = Omega Man
Dave != Omega Man
and that's 100%... |

Ok, if you say so... I've updated some of the entries to reflect this.
It's hardly surprising that someone would expect them to be the same. ;)
Dave releases a bunch of cracks and three demos named Omega demo 1-3, and he seems to disappear around 1985.
Late 1985 releases appear from a guy named Dave, with the nick The Omega Man.
As you seem to know people from TCS it would be ultra-cool if you could dig up some trivia on Dave! :)

Since we have now found Omega Demo 4, Omega Demo 5, Omega Demo 6, Omega Demo 7, Omega Demo 8 which are all made by The Omega Man, it is clear that Dave = The Omega Man since Omega Demo 1, Omega Demo 2 and Omega Demo 3 are credited to Dave and Demo 3 has the SYS line The Omega Man as well.
Please link the two entries. We should also proper credit releases Disk Organiser and Disk Hacker V1.0 which are not released by The Omega Man since he didn't use that handle in 1984 and that handle isn't used in these releases. |

Any admin that can comment on this or take action?
In the scroll text of Omega Demo 4 it is written "Oh wow! This is where I changed name to The Omega Man (It came from a film called 'The Omega Man'". Then he greets Psy the Hero which he also does in Omega Demo 2.
So Dave changed his name to The Omega Man. |
