Release id #20143 : Out Run Europe Digi Title

i wonder why this one is released in 1991, when the screen actually shows 1988. i even have got a version, where it says 1989.

Was the game ever released? I get confused with the Europe and Europa game.

hvsc info:

@outrun europe

These three tunes were prototypes for a US Gold/Probe game 'Outrun
Europe'. However, the game was never completed and the programming
team involved went on to do Turbo Outrun instead. This was also a
different game from Outrun Europa, released in 1991. The first two
tunes cover the arcade version.

@outrun europa

"To make a complex story short: BEFORE I had to make the 'TURBO
OUTRUN' music, I was asked to do the OUTRUN EUROPE music. OUTRUN
EUROPE was never finished (at least not the first version). I don't
know why/when/where/how.
Then Turbo Outrun was made. (you know the music, etc.) One of the two
title-tunes (not the 1.2.3. hit-it! one) was actually composed for
Outrun Europe.
OUTRUN EUROPA in 1990 is a totally different game from the old
unfinished, never released game in 1988/1989." (All comments from JT)

I must've been lucky then, having it 3 years before its release.

The confusion is due to the fact it's not used in outrun europA (notice the A) but in Turbo Outrun. Read the STIL.txt for JT comments about them (oswald copied it on his post above), the tune was only meant for outrun europE, which got cancelled and never completed, then this tune was reused for Turbo Outrun in 1989.

I'm confused. I just happened to have a MoN disk with this screen in the end of 1988. Why the fuzz about 1988 or 1991? Isn't the release date based on when somebody got it the first time in the scene. Is it a scenebase or a gamebase ?

Read opening of the thread iAN. Is not about the Europe or EuropA. But the release date of the specific screen Outrun Europe digi tune. Look in the MoN screen too. Is all the tunes combined again, in one HVSC SID file? THAT's confusing.

Edit: put whatever releasedate you want. ;)

yes and no... are you sure that back then you didnt get it as a private copy? ie, release dates should reflect public release, neither creation date nor some time someone sent 3 copies to 3 close friends for private use.
