Event id #2374 : Summer SID Competition

Your mission Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to create a SID composition within following rules:

One night during this northern summer you shall find yourself dreaming of music, perhaps only a few notes worth of melody. You'll write that down and work it to a composition. The composition is arranged into four intervowen sections.

Introduction -> Development -> Repetition -> Coda

This is sometimes referred as the sonata-form.

For example: The mood of the composition is set in the introduction that'll become developed into the main theme that shall be repeated perhaps with variation ending into finale.

Composition length, genre and number of entries are free.

Technical details:
- Provide an executable file that runs on real c-64.
- Provide preferred SID-type info.
- 1 and 2 SID entries will be judged separately.

All entries shall be released at the same time and there will be few weeks for voting. There will be a site up later on where to upload your entries.

As with the past Ambient competition, the result shall be announced in a webcast where all entries are played with real c-64 in their entirety.

As with all good music, you compose and arrange a piece of music, and your virtuosity with the instrument provides the sound.

CSDB voting will choose the popular winners in the end of the voting period. In addition to that I will select a song that in my opinion best reflects the form.

Good luck, Jim. I hope this message won't self destruct in 5 seconds.

I'm working on a tune, but it is most likely that I can't finish it in time. Too much job related work at present and the subject of the competition is quite challenging. :)

@freQvibes. You are correct on that. If it is easy, everybody could do it. :)

Okay - tune submitted.
I tried to put in practice lft's rules by introducing a second theme. Not easy, though....

And by the way: I spent way too much time on this tune (compared to the quality of the outcome). How much time do you guys need to produce a 3-minute piece?

Looking forward to hear all your entries! :-D

The deadline has passed and the entries are submitted.

I'll post them to CSDB now. All 3 of them. I am glad to see that most of you chose to spend the summer outside. :)

To honor the brave attendees, the competition will go on as planned and you have, lets say until the 14.8.2015 to vote and the winner shall be announced then.

Hope you don't gnaw your teeth too much about not-so-overwhelming participation. I'm not a musician myself so I need no excuse for not having trolled another music compo. As you said, it's simply not the most productive time of the year, moreover, we might also face something like ?TOO MANY COMPETITIONS ERROR especially with regard to music if we look back at first 7 months of 2015 or even include autumn/winter 2014. The three entries are good quality or even better, so thx anyway for this little compo :)
