Linux dists generally defaults to OpenJDK. Try use the official Oracle Java.
java -version:
java version "1.8.0_66"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_66-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.66-b17, mixed mode)

Okay thx, I'll try that. It's been ages since I last had problems running any Java programs with OpenJDK. I assumed using Oracle would not be necessary anymore. Guess I don't know "a lot of stuff" :-) |

Try -cp . -jar .... to enforce looking for classes in cwd |

Ok. Update: there's nothing wrong with OpenJDK. I was just missing JavaFX / OpenJFX. Difference to Oracle Java seems to be that JavaFX is already included / bundled there by default. |

Thanks! Good to know! Many of my Java projects also rely on JavaFX |
