Hotline imported this file from Madsquad, so the madsquad listed here (the dutch one) can't be correct,
anyone knows more about an american Madsquad?

Though it is strange, the intro is used on other cracks from Madsqaud and their greetings list fits with the regular madsquad stuff. |

In the years 88-90 some groups "imported" cracks within their continent or even their country.
Here's another Hotline example: Barbarian II/SCG

Besides HTL were also selling cracks, so it was even more their own interest to make promotion. |

For some people in Hotline, selling was a major part of their income.. so yes, this might indeed explain why intros were bung in front of everything that left hq. |

It wasn't really without risk back then either, depended a bit on the country you lived in I guess. And yes, .nl was a bit backward in that respect. In the UK the authorities and industry organizations were much better organized and active in fighting piracy. That, and Rob was just lucky I guess, considering he did everything in the open and without any secrecy. (everyone sold warez back then btw.. I was able to fund my hobby with selling of the occasional game as well) |
