Release id #48042 : Lautschrift

Hello,

I would like to hear your opinion about our decision to compete with our 4K-Demo in the "normal"-Demo category at Breakpoint 2007.
Since the 4k-Competition was cancelled, because there were only two entries, we had to decide wether to withdraw our Demo or to compete at the "heavweigth" category.
(Amiga 4k had only 2 entries, too. But these were presented :-(

So what do you think? Was it right to "burn" our real-time speech synthesis or would it have been better to wait for a better time to show this and maybe get rank #1 at another 4k-Competition?

Best regards,
Arnd / Radwar

i'm not sure what your question is :) did i "burn" my tune in the compo because i released it even when i knew before that there were lots of far better (or say, more likely winning) ones? who cares about rankings anyway =P

I think you did the right thing. After all, competing in the c64 compo @ BP will get you more exposure than winning the 4k at a smaller party.

I think some kind of infor that this is a 4k intro would be useful for people to get the idea what's going on. But still some of the people learned that after the party and I'm sure they appreciate the effort.

I think it's great you released it, I was totally surprised,. Especially as it's all in 4K! There was a discussion about synthesizing human speech going on here some months ago, so that fits perfectly well. Looking forward to the release of the sourcecode...

yeah well - you did not have a big chance to win the compo.

but see the csdb rating (i know sometimes it doenst mean much)
so ppl respect your work, and alot of ppl checked it out.

releasing it on another (smaller) party wouldnt let so many ppl know about your upcoming party so it would be burned in another way (winning a small compo, but not reaching so many ppl with it as you did at BP).

so - yes - good idea to release it at bp
