Event id #1714 : Revision 2011
I just added Revision 2011 as an upcoming event for this years easter. I really hope to meet a lot of (C64-)sceners there and see some great easter demos like we did last Breakpoint.
So have a look at the website, watch the invitation, read the blog and feel invited to sign up the rapidly growing visitors list. :) |

There seems to be a separate C64 demo compo but a combined "oldskool intro" compo. Any thoughts on this? You could probably enter a onefile C64 demo in the intro compo instead of the C64 demo compo if you prefer... Sounds stupid to me but still... :) Also, if I made a C64 4k intro I would rather put it in the C64 demo compo than in the same compo as for example Amiga 64k intros as they're bigger than many C64 demos and are using lots more speed and memory. |

"Any thoughts on this?"
yeah: it's entirely your fault, and wouldnt have happened if there were enough entries in the past years to justify a seperate compo :)
however, as the past has shown eg in the music compo..... c64 rocks the boat anyway. and amiga stuff doesnt automatically beat c64 stuff either, the audience is well capable of making a difference between a kickass c64 production and some half baked amiga stuff. |

Malmix : Oldksool intro will have a file size limit. So a 64kb amiga intro could never end up in the same compo as a 4K C64 intro here. Unless both complete in the Wild Compo.
Also : What Groepaz said. The number of entries was on the low side to justify separate competitions for each variety. Secondly this also gets the gameboy, msx, ... productions out of the "wild" compo into a competition where they can stand out more.
And yes, visitors are perfectly able to judge the quality of a c64 4k versus an msx 4k or amiga 4k.
Cheers,
Franky - Revision Compo Orga. |

Sure I don't think multiplatform compos is necessarily a bad think, I just found it interesting that if there were only one "ondskool intro" compo (currently there's only one mentioned on the website) and the size limit was set to 64k (that was what I assumed) then it would seem more reasonable to put your c64 4k intro in the c64 demo compo... But with a size limit of 4k it's a different thing. |

Don't get me wrong, but to me "oldschool intro" (in regards to "C64 demo" and "Amiga demo"), reads like "any oldschool platform and file size, that does not fit in any category mentioned before". As 4k Amiga and 64k Amiga is definitely not "Amiga demo", so I'd expect that 256b VC20, 4k C64 and 64k Amiga compete against each other in "oldschool intro".
If I'm mistaken I'd be glad to read more detailed information about that. :)
Aside from that: I'll be there 100%. |
