Release id #112412 : Space Lords "Centaurus"
Commercial release. Imho shouldn't have an entry here. Same as with Protovision it should be differentiated between public releases by RGCD and commercial ones.
If the guys from P1X3L.net decide to give it away for free one day it can be listed then and that day should be release date.
At least this is how I understood the handling of commercial releases in general on CSDb. I may be wrong on this matter. |

Commercial releases can get entries as long as they are done by people related to the scene, AFAIK. |

Hi there spider, James from RGCD here.
I was a little surprised to see the game entry made here myself, and understand your concerns. AFAIK the game *will* be released as a free download at some point (it's ultimately up to the p1x3l.net guys).
The game does have scene links but if the powers-that-be want to remove the game from CSDb until it's made freely available then I totally understand.
I assume there are no guidelines in place regarding this in the FAQ? If not, and seeing how there are now several game publishers kicking about, perhaps someone should make a decision and put it in writing?
-----------------------------------------
EDIT - just checked:
Commercial ("Originals")
An original Game by our definition is a Game which is or was sold (be it through a Magazine, a distributor, whatever) and which does not qualify as a crack. Generally entering commercial Games into the Database is prohibited, with the following exceptions:
A Group or Individual that has also a scene background produced some Games, and agrees with their commercial releases being available for download. Entries of commercial games which do not have a download link because the creator of the game does not agree with it are subject for deletion.
Such entries in the Database should (unlike cracks) have the credits pointed out for the actual game, and the download link should point to the original file. If you like you can put additional links to cracks of that game into the comments, but don't put them into the actual entry.
If you want to help archiving original Disks, go to the C64 Preservation Project or The SixtyFour Originals DataBase. For downloading Games try Gamebase.
... ok, so the rules ARE clear. |

Btw, also the Onslaught crack has been deleted, because there was no download link - apparently trying to protect the sales of a C64 production in 2012 is not considered a "good reason" to not upload the release directly.
Hm. Kind of sad, really. Only IMHO of course. |

Seems Jazzcat should re-upload the release when he's ready to do so. |
