Logos required?
Hello, I`m fairly new to this site and just getting a feel of the C64 scene. You may have noticed I`ve added 3 logos lately (obviously the quality is in question - I`m totally new to this) :) Anyway, I`m looking for a group or scener who requires a logo. The aim is to have a specific reason to draw my next one - bare in mind I don`t have any problems with it not being used if it isn`t up to the required standard. (I`m mostly after more practise/improvement). |

Nice idea. I have some Logo prepared that would need some shape-up, since I am no pixelizer ;-) Interested? Anyway, i put it online here:

@Bizzmo: I am pretty sure you could do a "melted metal"-like logo. As graphician you're a 10 out of 10 on my list.
And I only called you old_man as you tend to always bother me with the same few lines of "humor" or what it is you've got going. But I guess I am not allowed to give you a little "pay-back" on that account. :-)
Once again sorry that I didn't manage to get any intro or something done with the X-SID logo, as this seems to bother you a lot.
And I guess I'll just have to stop telling you what I'm working on. I am a perfectionist, so I don't just finish things in a rush. :-) |

'Jeff graphic editor'
Wonders what Jeff is coding editor wise that hasn't been done already? :)
My first (automatic) thoughts were, Oh it's going to be hires with 2 layers of overliad sprites. Am I correct in thinking this?

Lol, looks like Jeff has just volunteered to develop a new graphics mode... Now I'm wondering how long I'll have to wait for an editor for "JeffMode!" |

as if by magic, with a magical finger snap, I think I've just had an idea for a new C64 graphic mode. It's kinda been done before, but not using multi colour hires.
Take Crossbows idea of half pixel shifting*
(hires interlaced while scrolling at the correct speed) and apply multi colour graphics.
The options could include:
hires chars + 1 layer of hires sprites
96 horizontal x ?? Vertical
hires chares + 2 lasyers hires sprites
192 horizontal x ?? Vertical
96 interlaced would look like 192 resolution
192 interlaced would look like 384 resolution
I think the logo would need to be created using a PC, although a C64 editor could be coded. During zoom mode the pixels would look like multi coloured pixels turned onto their sides (double the height of a single pixel).
If this idea appears in a future demo, remember you read it here first ;D It would be ideal for a logo.

Seems like you misunderstood me. But hey, lets not abuse this thread anymore and let Darkus use it for what it was supposed to. :-) |

Darkus: I'm terrible when it comes to finiding inspiration to do logos! When you say you're looking for a specific reason - I can relate to that. Having to do something *can* force me into doing something (although it doesn't always work).

Inspiration can be difficult.
I tend to find the best approach is to have an idea before going anywhere near a computer screen. Sitting in front of a screen throwing pixels around never works.
As for inspiration, it is a good idea to have a theme in mind, even if the finnal results end up completely different from your original vision. I've often started on a logo, only for it to become something different and better further down the line :)
