PC C64 sprite editor needed
My hands hurt from using the C64 cursor keys to do some sprites (more than 30), so i need a pc prog :)
Cant find one... spritepad cant load the sprite data i made on the c64, and i dont want to use timanthes, because i can never make it save anything..
It must be able to load real c64 data, not some obscure format only.
Anyone ? |

If your sprites are seperate objects, Spritepad is pretty quick in use. Spritepad uses plain c64 format (without the 2 load address bytes), the last (empty) byte is used to store the sprite colour.
I'd give it another try. I've uploaded a version here with 'better' colours though forgot who did the fix, but thanks anyway whoever. |

Spritepad does not have an obscure format. Like Hein says it's justs the 63 bytes of spritedata + a color byte, which are stored in the .spr file.
What might be a bit obscure is the .inf file (
iirc), I'm not quite sure what data that one holds.
You can do the following though :
Setup a new set of sprites in spritepad with the number of sprites you want to import. Then save the empty file with the number of sprites you want.
Then, replace the .spr file with your .prg file (after removing the first 2 bytes). You can make a new .spr file by using prg2bin.exe (check csdb).
example :
prg2bin.exe sprites.prg spritefile.spr
and off you go! (after setting all the colors and stuff)

Draw your sprites in your fav. drawing program.
Then simply convert your data into sprites (Easy thing to do if you know a 'little' programming). |
