straight from YOUR playlist
if you encounter a piece of sound so great you want to hang yourself for not being able to write something of similar quality...
if you think you've just found the best music ever made...
if you think a certain song/tune/symphony contains some unusually awesome elements...
...and you want to share it with other c64 composers and not necessarily via your facebook wall, just do it here.
explanations, reviews and so on warmly welcome.
one link per day max.
have fun. |

As I indicated in the other thread, I am not a superior fan of unchanged rhythmic patterns. No wonder that this gem caught my attention as soon as I heard it (when it was a year old and I was almost 15, early 1982, they weren't really popular in Germany by then):

Hudson Mohawke "Overnight"
The first time I heard this it almost made me cry because of the pure simplicity and genius behind those 3 minutes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQduttGOQSE
Plastikman "Pakard"
This deserves to be heard from the original CD, in a dark room. I put it on wherever I am alone at home in the evenings, turn the light off, and dance shamelessly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXcDDujNaHQ
Konflict "Messiah"
Still gives me shivers when I listen to this track. Used to do sound checks before razorPoint gigs with this one. Which was of course just a lame excuse to jump on the empty dancefloor and shout our lungs out together like fucking maniacs when 1:28 kicks in.
From the other side of musical spectrum:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmUKzDiabxU
Opeth "A Fair Judgement"
Just when I lost all hope in metal and gave it up for few years, someone pointed out this album ("Deliverance") to me. And this track brought be back to Satan's sweet hands for many years to come ;)
There will be more.
Oh, just noticed you wrote "one link per day". Well, whatever :) |

Love, but ... although I am a sucker for somewhat lofi and honest sounds I think the lofi aspect is a bit overdone in this particular case since the style doesn´t exactly scream for it :)
One link a day, hum, let´s start with an old favourite of mine, something I´ve been listening to for 15 years at least.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1CLv1OUXxY
I adore the sounds, the composition, the production, the vintage singing style, the lyrics, the percusion work, anything. Truely one of those songs so great I want to hang myself for not being able to write anything that comes even remotely close.
wackee, you fucking cheater! =D +1 for Opeth, of course!

loved Alan Parsons and Casiokids too, didn't know those tracks.
Rush brings too many memories of my first band and our miserable attempts to cover their songs ;)
Linus: perhaps you may want to check out Ariel's newest release "Before Today" then, where lo-fi is mostly gone, and songwriting still A+. |

this is a nice anti-example concerning classic song structure :) it also manages to build an percussive wall of awesomeness by very simple means. best heard in a dark room at full volume. oh, its also a classic, get the maxi if you stumble about it - avoid the reprinted cd release with the uninspiring "new school" remixes. |

New day here :-)
Actually 2 long pieces of the same kind and performer, so I hope grouping them together instead of making two days is ok. I do not post youtube links, as I could not find a non-crippled version there. Do not try youtube if you do not already know these pieces :-( really not. And do not even start them when you do not have the half hour of quietness to listen...
I cannot give you a direct download, you must look for yourself.
These can take me away to long journeys...

I was in the middle of an orchestration job when I discovered this one. Well... I burned dosens of hours on dead-ends, expanding the number of tracks about 70-80 - these guys cracked the Universe open in 2 minutes, live.
I realised that no 'just an another...' synth layer can heal the lack of a good idea ;) |

@jssr67: Bayreuth Return, or rather the whole Timewind album, what an amazing piece of music! One of few study helpers back in my university days :)
My piece for your enjoyment for today. Any list like this would feel incomplete for me without those guys.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYikLIMPHSs
Autechre "Arch Carrier" (turn on HD for acceptable sound quality).
There are many splendid tracks by Ae ("Gantz Graf" is another milestone, both audially and visually), but this one has so much emotion inside (which is strange since Autechre makes music for insects, right?! :D). I love how the spatial layers of strings creep up from behind, and how the whole track keeps unfolding itself towards the end, reaches some kind of a plateau and then just ends with an abrupt cut.
Still, it makes me smile how that organic string sounds fit together with the trademarked mathematical "no-natural-ingredients-added" Ae sonics :)
Another one for the midnight dancer in me.
By the way, if you have the opportunity, catch them live, they're brilliant. Especially if you're into mathematic deconstructions of sound in your head ;) |

just noticed that both songs i've posted to date are by musicians i had a privilege to see live. let's continue the trend for a while longer.
personally, i like it when an artist - when playing other artist's material - changes or enriches some harmonical content (reharmonization - is this a legal word?). here, we have threesome of such covers glued together live (but the transitions are so smooth it is rather unnoticeable - demomakers, you can draw some inspiration ;>). all of them far better than the originals! norman hurt - band's pianist - is mainly to blame, but give some attention to incredibly tight rhythm section as well. and of course vocal arrangements...

Today something more old-fashioned and about interpretation + performance. A clip with a performance of Arcadi Volodos (playing his version of Turkish March / Mozart). Personally i consider him as the greatest interpreters of classical music at this moment.

Sorry for double post a day. But I have to reply.
This, in the interpretation given below, was one of my regulars for a while (used it as cellphone alarm), although I usually am not a Mozart fan. I wouldn't have posted it here without you triggering it, though, as I would have had other more important pieces on my list, so I do not count it for today :-)

@jssr67: :) I'd call this arrangement, not interpretation. Regular Turkish March is very simple and boring tune (despite it's classic - no intend to offend anybody :)) to learn for schoolgirls at first class of piano lessons :) --- making it played by band just by arranging and voicing for few instruments + 4/4 beat isn't something that impresses (that's my opinion). Volodos gave this tune new spirit by making it more like counterpointed fugue instead of ordinary re-harmonization + voice figuration. |

moog, as a last statement to it (I don't think it deserves more in this thread): I wasn't about to say what Stormwitch did with it was "impressive" at all. Not by any means. I just liked the way it sounded, for whatsoever reason. As I mentioned, I wouldn't have posted it, for other reasons than this coincidence. |

My favs being "Bitches Brew", "On the Corner" and "In a silent way" but everybody prolly knows them already so I thought I´d post some of Miles´ lesser known work, the soundtrack for "ascenseur pour l'echafaud". Either Orlingo or Mortimer Twang used to sample that track back in the Amiga days. Been in love with it ever since. A pitty I can´t find any high quality tube links, thanks to BMG. |

@linus: thank you for mentioning my favourite Miles album :)
Today I bring you one of metal's most underrated bands.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Rnf5fLqqo
Coroner "Host" (from their "swan-song" LP "Grin").
Very ambitious and progressive band which dissolved shortly after reaching their creative peak, due to lack of commercial acclaim. Most sources will mention "Mental Vortex" album as their best effort (featuring awesome cover of Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", by the way), but I disagree completely. The whole "Grin" album is magical, I remember listening to it from pirate tapes on headphones at night, some weeks after it came out, dear God did those guys knew how to make metal interesting and challenging. First time I was listening to it I almost had a heart attack at the end of the title track, "Grin (Nails Hurt)" :)
Back to the subject though, the ending track to that album, "Host", is absolutely brilliant, especially after 4:54 when it makes a complete 180 degrees turn. Creepy as hell, that's the way /me likes it. |

OK, some more today.
Despite being a metal progressivist, I am usually not a member of the "louder, faster" fraction.
But there are a few exceptions. The most important one is a band that, like so many, in their later albums turned a more "commercial" way, but on their first complete album (they had one EP before) apparently tried to hit the exact limits of their playing skills :-) (also don't forget, at that time one of the guitarists also was the singer) ... and still make it well listenable.
Which of course, at least if you're writing for dedicated performers (incl. yourself), is an important consideration when writing songs. What am I/is he technically able to do, and for how long in a row? Do I need breaks in the song to recover and prevent spasms? :-)
My "Power metal anthem":

I saw them twice, in the 80's. Would not like to have missed them. |

somewhen back in the days, someone said to me 'apparently you do listen to a lot of arabian music'. it wasn't true, however. i was exposed to a lot of arabian music during the early childhood (thanks to my father, who spent a considerable part of his professional life in egypt, algeria and kuwait). only recently i started to explore it again. here's the result.

xtc is my favourite band as of late. initially dubbed 'punk rock for prog rock fans', they quickly expanded far beyond that. so many great songs, so original style of composing (they invented as many innovative guitar tunings as sonic youth and glenn branca combined) and writing, so much variety. modal minimalist orchestral piece? no problem, folk melted with afrobeat? right away, stadium anthem with two key changes within a chorus? here you are, piano ballad in a baroque fashion? suit yourself.
in the track you are about to hear, they strive to be duke ellington (i guess). with a little productional help from todd rundgren, they succeed completely. now how's that for a punk rock trio from swindon? :)
please don't forget to dig the lyrics. it's almost poetry, to me at least.

Flotsam & Jetsam "Hard On You"
In the face of all the progressive stuff that has been posted in this thread so far (my picks included ;D) - just a straightforward thrash metal track, but it's kept me under its spell since the initial release of "No Place For Disgrace" in '88. Quite underrated album, and I keep waiting for it to be released as a remastered version, because the original production doesn't give it justice :)
Oh, and back in the day - thrash metal band covering Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting"? Those guys surely had balls! :)
I also happen to love the lyrics, which inspired this thingy: Art Femina #1 / Hard on You :) |

Thanks Linus, tlr... Gentle Giant and Yes could have come from my list :-)
Which brings me to something a bit different... didn't find the studio version, so a lofi live vid has to suffice.
Not really 'progressive' but at least playing a bit with 'timing dropouts' :-)... actually I like a few of their songs.

Interesting finds!
When writing, I like the slow pace, dry beats, Yasmine's superb vocal skills and overall crisp sounds of the album Enta Fen by the Lebanese band SoapKills. Try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLZvk03K1wY or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmwkFt4k2kw for an introduction. |

Dane, please do! very cool, particularly in the beginning.
and i knew it's Joshua on the sax even before i checked :)
from me, a longer rant, sorry :|
the thing that makes me go WOW the most is: making pop music while employing non-pop methods of composing. strangely expanded chords, frequent modulations, dissonant - in a contemporary meaning - harmonies, rootnote independent basslines (also polyrhythms, unusual time signatures, modal approach and so on). yet used in such a clever way you often don't notice those methods upon early listening! teenage girls - skirts up, critics and hipsters - foreheads down. numerous beatles, beach boys, steely dan, xtc, jamiroquai or radiohead songs fall under this category as i know it.
however, one of the most extreme examples i am aware of comes from my own country. it was a hit, even if rather a minor one. so full of harmonic oddities that when a simple c minor (with c in bass) starts the chorus, it sounds like the strangest of them all.
still, it doesn't prevent anyone from perceiving the song as a standard slow rock ballad.
by the way, lyrics are almost equally brilliant, but they happen to be in polish ;)

i know it is possible to fake a note, suggesting it by context, so the listener will hear it even if it wasn't explicitely played. but to fake a time signature?
try listening to this track in various acoustic environments (lavatory included - haha - i'm serious). certain bars seem to begin in different moments depending on how far you are from the source. they seem to have different lengths also. really.

now playing: one of the most unexpected choruses ever.
not only it kicks in after three bars of postcanto, it's also sung by a vocalist other than 'violin cords' jens himself. and what a vocalist it is - if you think leonard cohen or tom waits have the deepest, lowest voices in business, please take a listen and admire calvin johnson's register, like i do.

Another "classic" again. I never liked anything too much that Gabriel and Collins did when they were separated. But together they were an ingenious team and had quite some highlights. Not comparable to stuff they did much later IMHO.
Also notable in that time were some of their quite "british" lyrics.

probably the best contemporary songwriter i know (most unknown for sure). the amount of great chord changes and melodic turns in his compositions is killing me :'|

an interesting (imho) band i discovered a while ago... not your usual hip hop stuff (although the roots are there):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9rbFIqAtn8 (love the beat in this one)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr-dDkrljDU (totally not what you'd expect from a hip hop band)

unfortunately their lyrics play a significant role - and they are in german. (and yes i have become a fanboy =P) |

not only it is computer-made (even the vocals are synthesized) sufficiently to be considered scene music, it contains a fair amount of jazz, classical stuff (for example - extended, so-called Chopin chords), hip-hop beats, ambient atmosphere, glitchtronica elements, kawaii cuteness, dark lyrics and unbelievably skilled songwriting.
i don't have a say, except that it is a work of a genius. i feel like somebody has just landed a knocking out punch in my face.

And cannot make up my mind which one is better:

@Wackee: Opeth doesn't tend to make mistakes, amen to that :)
One of the most inspiring bands for me these days is Alamaailman Vasarat (Hammers of hell) as they combine world music with some bone-chrunching attitude:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAbahejW5EE
Saw them live around 2008 or so, the gig was a blast. Great folks and incredibly tight playing band, plus awesome sense of humour, they were far the best act in my opinion among hundreds of various fame acts in that Sziget festival. I even created a little tribute track to test Vincenzo's TeH FlOppy sound bank recently:

Finally, this one is for metalheads :)

After a session with "Monks" (the definite highlight of his debut album) that status seems, quite surprisingly, justified.

it's 2010, i'm playing keyboards for some band at Off Festival in Katowice. next in the lineup is Toro Y Moi - the hottest hype among indie music journalists at the time, so i'm acting skeptical and i hang on to my bottle while watching. the tent is awash with people; the (admittedly, somewhat amateurish) band seems to be in surprised shock and give a terrific performance. as the gig ends, i run out chasing the leaving artists. i'm drunk, so i fall on a muddy ground several times, then i finally approach Chaz Bundick and i madly beg him 'do the encore! hear that applause? did you ever play to a bigger audience? please do the encore!'. there are NO encores allowed at Off Festival, but God was i convincing and Chaz complied ;)
watching Toro Y Moi now... they obviously have come a long way.

I'm generally a sucker for powerful game soundtracks. Typically, PlatinumGames makes stuff right up my alley (Vanquish, Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance have massively awesome OSTs).
A tune which piqued my interest comes from Virtue's Last Reward (which is a slurpily delicious mindfork of a game by the way, go go play it now!) and is magnificently called "1-17 Q":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-Mv-GE293A
Great c64 conversion potential...
As a bonus, Presence by Mindsphere is a non-game 14 minute piece of pure liquid supercooled hydrogen:

Yep, outside of games I'm heavy into Goa. Whodathunkit? :)

Pretty much fell in love with Trinodia's work since Breakpoint 2004. Dude likes to mix Goa with scifi/physicist quotes related to space. Think quantum wormholes, Faster-Than-Light technology, astronauts performing Galileo's experiments on the Moon, a physicist explaining Flatland, time travel and heck, even Star Trek - Trinodia puts these brief sound bites into long, atmospheric tunes in such a way that they sound prophetic, ominous even. Love it.
"Halfdeaph" is my favourite track, but I can't seem to find an immediately-playable interwebz version. Try to download it though, it's an old track but certainly worth it.
Found the more recent "Wars of the Gods" on Youtube, though, which is also quite good:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lXq8G-XeDQ
You can download a lot of his stuff free of charge, btw. If you're interested, find trinodia.net and download free albums from there.

Nightmare Creatures on the PSX would be an average Final Fight style beat'em up if it wasn't for the OST, which was composed by "Nooon"e other than Elmobo aka Moby (the Scene one, not the mainstream one :) aka Frederique Motte. The following track in particular gets me even today and will be forever intertwined with me facing off against werewolves, geists and other nightmarish creatures in haunted graveyards and mist-covered, 17th century gothic cityscapes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zsY3PxYM0M
The track's ambience induces paranoia, fear and a cold chill all at the same time. It greatly improved Nightmare Creatures' gaming experience and it's not a coincidence the game was successful enough to warrant a sequel and Elmobo a second OST commission.
I have remixed this tune on c64 - twice, because I lost the files of the first remix. That's how much I love this tune, and appreciate Elmobo's talent and effort towards its composition.
Oh and for those interested, Elmobo has been in the process of remastering the OSTs of Nightmare Creatures 1 and 2! See, here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FceI1KRMj4Y
Unfortunately, Frederique ran into copyright issues recently (announced May 31st 2013) :(. I do hope these issues get sorted, because I would like to be first in line to pick up a copy...

You all probably heard of Tomb Raider at some point of time. The series has always had an impressive soundtrack, and I think I covered the main theme of the first Tomb Raider in JCH v14.g0. Nathan McCree did that tune way back, and it was my favourite Tomb Raider theme for a very long time.
Until Troels Brun Folmann walked by, that is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCWa6SfuNaE
Folmann composed the main theme of Tomb Raider: Underworld which just blew me away the first time I heard it. I recall being so ecstatic about it that it took me about 15 minutes until I remembered: "Oh yeah, there's a game I can play!" :).
Hints of McCree's original piece were worked into the composition but really, what shines here is how the tune just builds up more and more critical mass. Every time you think it reached its maximum in sheer power, Troels adds another, even more powerful layer. Sublime. Eventually, it just explodes in the best possible way. Think of Martin Galway's Terra Cresta theme song masterpiece, but now with a full symphonic orchestra.
It's uplifting, it's inspiring, it's powerful. It's all that and the most complete feeling of ultimate victory compressed into a soundwave. This is the kind of music you can play when the winning Champion's League team is being crowned. Move over "Champion's League" anthem, you're just not good enough anymore.
Does that mean I've forgotten everything about McCree's work? Hell no:
(bonus link) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdQmWTorTsk&list=PLBE8954C255E15..
The Midas Palace score, no matter what, will always be the second Tomb Raider track I will fondly remember and speak of. It's short, but so bloody sweet.

The Silent Hill series, and in particular the parts made by Team Silent, will always be one of my favourite 'between the ears' horror series. Although general consensus places mainly Silent Hill 2 on a pedestal, I personally prefer part 4 (The Room) as that one can become an extremely creepy mindf**k if you allow it to.
Anyway, a good horror series stands or falls with its soundtrack, so Team Silent was very lucky to have Akira Yamaoka do the honours for a very long time (I believe he stopped composing for it before the most recent instalment). In these games, Yamaoka's work has been detrimental to their success, bringing anything in between heavy atmosphere and sad melancholy to the table. He never really gives you a reason to celebrate your progress in the game - even his most 'upbeat' Silent Hill tunes will leave you feeling sad, helpless, depressed. Most of the time however, you'll face a really oppressive atmosphere as you walk the fog-covered, abandoned streets of Silent Hill. Which is, of course, exactly what Team Silent intended and what you wanted to experience willingly.
There are far too many awesome tunes to choose from. I covered my favourite, "True" (one of the upbeat tunes I talked about :), on c64 with "WinACookie". The one I'm linking to below is not super high on my playlist, but it is a good synopsis of the emotional spectrum the composer generally infused into the series:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khdRqQMXD88
Dang, now I want to go play Silent Hill 3 again. Laters!

@Linus: that track reminds me of Lackluster/Sunflower, in a good way :)
All right, so let's take a look at Erina Niwa:
http://www.last.fm/music/Erina+Niwa/+images/69322356
Erina is your golden ticket whenever you need adrenalin pumping music for your latest and greatest action game. She did the honours for Bayonetta and Vanquish, both critical successes but unfortunately, commercially not so... boo :(.
My favourite tune (and quite a few more) hails from Vanquish:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKfw7vVEH2s
This is the first tune that plays after the tutorial. At first, I was a bit disappointed. As you can see from the pictures in the Youtube video, Vanquish is a futuristic bullet hell cybershooter, yet the music brings a classical composition to the table, heavy on the brass.
Then, at 1:28, when I'm just about to accept fate and endure the game's beaten to death 'space opera' music style, Erina Niwa says "Haha, fooled you!" and 303 happens. Gorgeous, delicious Three "Oh, f**k yeah." Three. And then, half a minute later, the brass returns, but this time layered into the 303. And it's "OH. F**K. YEAH!" sublime! I'm in bullet hell and at the same time in fusion trance heaven.
"Breaking into the Colony" sets the tone for the rest of the game. Not a single beat is dropped as Erina and co-composer Masafumi Takada hit you with fusion trance, lots of 303, cybertrance, ambient and... android commie disco (trust me, it makes sense in the game :):
(bonus kawaii!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9FQOImlTlo
Tomorrow will be my final playlist entry for a while. See you then!

I'm, as they say, a child of the eighties. The eighties were the decade where - in my case - music was absorbed, assimilated and shaping the id and the ego.
For my last entry into this thread (for a while), I've picked the one track from the eighties which I literally cannot live without. In 1981, this song firmly kicked off everything wrong and right about the eighties and will last me my entire life (and it would be truly impossible to remove any rose-tinted eyewear from my lookers, not that I'm wearing any mind you, no seriously, there are no recognisable rose tints within my field of vision as I continue to rant poetic):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9WdUgn0XkU
I love everything about this :). Composition (with gradual tempo progression), vocals/lyrics (and I'm not a big fan of vocals/lyrics as you may have noticed from my previous entries), instruments (a first step towards the fusion of analogue and digital), atmosphere and even the accompanying bonkers video clip (back when suave mustaches and weird camera shots for the heck of it were all the rage).
At some point, I'm going to convert this treasure to c64. Some day. Until then... may this mean nothing to you!

according to common practice tonality? almost everywhere. but for people who consider diminished chords with minor ninths an everyday solution, it obviously isn't complicated nor dissonant ;) |

Miilkbone - Keep It Real (Instrumental) (1995)
awww yeah. blasting favourite hiphop loops for this afternoon. this one is a classic. I first heard it used in a Big L & Jay Z freestyle many years ago but in edited form.
Big L & Jay Z - 10 Minutes Freestyle
this unedited version wasn't spread around until years later. the quality of the edited version most people heard wasn't the best.

Not too fond of SID remixes in general and this barely qualifies as such (more like inspired by), but for some reason I really enjoyed the cheesy vocal parts in this:

Nice blend of styles here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q_DJc_sBrU
I like how the trance/ebm style bassline interacts harmonically with the ethnic lead style and guitar. Because of the Spanish theme I can't seem to decide if that is phrygian or a mode of harmonic minor. |

Polonia Disco sessions are a phenomenon in itself, held bi-monthly and attended by many finest personas of Polish independent scene. usually, the task is to form an ad hoc synthpop group and produce a song - in just a few hours - with a given detailed theme (here, place: Venezuela, transport: horse, handicap: blisters). but seldom it yields such amazing results. warning, beautiful chords overload :)

I just came across this 2021 song today and it tickled my fancy, sounding as if it were a native c64 tune right off the bat...!? (Even remember a very SID of the Golden era, with an utterly similar cadence.)
Would be awesome to have it adapted to a proper SID... <3 Ɛ>

I've been returning to this Stinsen tune a lot - released as an entry in Syntax 2020's Oldskool Demo compo. He seems pretty modest about his capabilities as a composer, but he needn't be really, because this is such a wonderful little looper. I'm not a particularly melody-oriented listener (or indeed composer) but these are bittersweet leads to die for. <3 |

Sure, many people still hate italo dance for some reason, sorry about that. Anyways: I heard this particular track for the first time 4 years ago, whilst happily biking under the glaring sun... I was so intensely thrown back to 1985, and felt forced to buy the vinyl. Roberto Ferrante was 19 years old when he wrote & released this together with Clio. |

https://battlecommand.bandcamp.com/album/wait-a-minute
Usecases: taking a walk or a ride with the bike, maybe light a torch whilst raking the leaves in the yard...
Also, it's free.
Chiseled on it for quite some time.
(segmented+remastered version is under way)

Track 08 has a bit of a riff there that sounds like it could have inspired Outrun's "Magical Sound Shower" |

Lonely Rolling Star is my favourite from the soundtrack.
Probably a lot of other people's favourite as well.
Would work out nicely as a SID. Famitrackers have already had a shot.

Don't make me dust off my old PSP to play "Patapon"!
Not going to drive anyone nuts by posting a link to that OST.
Instead I'll post this great Japanese pop ballad nobody outside of Japan has probably ever heard of. The song officially died in 2011 for obvious reasons.

This is the hero we need, not the one we deserve.
He thinks he's Lionel Ritchie and Giorgio Moroder all in one package. All very tongue-in-cheek and hamming it up all the way. And his saxophonist is on fire - literally.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnzXZlm4wwg
If you liked that, also check out his track "Santorini". Total 80s synth with cheesy lyrics but great song composition. |

Giving the criminally ignored Eurythmics "1984" album a lease of life. Even they thought it was some of their best work. Who am I to disagree? (lol).
Then again, with a track titled "Sex Crime" it was never going to be radio friendly. Hard to argue about that. Still managed to chart with an awesome driving bassline which made it a club hit... even though it stayed obscure to the mainstream.

Fat Mike imho is the prime role model for all borderline alcoholic borderline psychos on this planet.
I went to a concert from their last tour. I went to the mosh pit and at some point I was more falling than moshing. A guy with a white t-shirt left the pit with the words "I don't want you to bleed anymore on me", because well, as I said I was more falling than anything else.
I had some good time french kissing with an homosexual, who didn't care that I said, I'm a boring straight guy. But of course I'm a fucking leftist punk who is not ashamed putting his tongue into anyone who doesn't mind.
So, yep, I guess I'm kind of "queer" and for sure "I am a rat". A song that gives me the same vibes when Vicous covered "I did it my way" :-) |
