Defmon - Looking for "How To" info

Greetings all,

Does anyone here use the Defmon music-tracker ?

I downloaded the "guide" for it, but it's not much help as a "how-to" or tutorial.

If anyone can share an example tune that I can load into the program, and / or more info on how to use the program, that would be great !

I've been downloading every (music) tracker program that I can find, mostly out of curiousity.

Most of them have been pretty much un-useable, as most of them are undocumented, and with the most cryptic u.i.'s I've ever seen :)

Heh, Defmon is #1 in *that* category :/

To actually *use* a tracker to make some music, I'm using Sid Wizard, and GoatTracker. For ease of use, and documentation there is no competition for Sid Wizard, with GoatTracker a close second.

For a small amount of money, Sixx will perhaps share Goto80's telephone number. :D

That video was a "wonderful" "tutorial" :\ (not !)

I can't believe he got ~40+ likes for it.

I'll probably learn more by dis-assembling / debugging the program.

Um, in my o.p. I wrote :

About 30 seconds into the video, it looks like he switched to some other screen (instrument editor ?)

There's no mention of how to switch to "instrument mode" in the "guide".

Any idea of what keystroke is used to switch to that screen?

Perhaps you need a guide on how to use the guide?

2. The sidTAB is the only table you will ever need. This is where sounds are
made.

Ya maybe ;)

I thought the "<- switch pattern/sidtab" was referring to either the greater-than key or the left arrow.

I see now it is the "commodore back arrow", a.k.a. the "backtick" key in Vice.

WOW ! We have sound output ! Incredible :)

Still a few "puzzles" remaining :

1) Is the FF pattern hard coded ? There are about 15 rows in it, with seemingly non-changeable info there.

2) Is there a way to extend / shorten a pattern ?

For whoever might be interested, there is now a section of the defMON wiki with an overview of the interface, with pictures :)
