Music Editor for Oldschool Mind
Hi there,
Say, if I, hypothetically, would like to make SIDs again, what actual player would you recommend? I did my last SIDs in 1995 of so and been using Future Composer and Music Assembler…
Nice sound and some userfriendliness would be appreciated. :-)
Thanks,
Peter / Raze |

Question is if you want to use a C64 or your ipad, or modern computer? :) |

Good question. On a 64 it‘s the original feeling, but I‘m open for everything as long as it‘s „what you hear is what you get“. 😄
I‘ve used Cubase, ProTools and real synthesizers in real life so it can be specific in sound design. |

Sidwizard on C64 or goattracker on PC. Both modern(ish) players that can produce state of the art sounds, and oldschool enough that it wont be totally alien.
Welcome back :) |

Some (newer) good options:
C64:
SID-Wizard V1.8
SID Duzz' It V2.1.7
iPad:
SidTracker 64
PC:
GoatTracker V2.76
CheeseCutter 2.9.0
I am sure the SID Lords have more tips. |

Groepaz! 🙂🙃
Thanks for the info, had a quick look at SidTracker 64, awesome.
Will check to other options as well, but I like the option of mobile composing with the iPad.
Thank you guys! |

Let me mention SID Factory II as a modern tool for SID composing: https://blog.chordian.net/sf2/ |

If you're looking for something to get into easily, there are tons of Goattracker tutorials out there, including an official Goattracker manual. They provide a lot of explanations on how it works, and I can run you through some of the basics if you want. I look forward to hearing what you make! |
