Where is a difference between Sidplay 2 and Sidplay 2 Plug-in for Winamp?
Hello mates !
Half of my tunes sound much better on Sidplay 2,but another half sound better on plug-in Sidplay2 for Winamp ?
Where is a diffrence ? I use only one type of SID (new). So in menu settings 8580 is switch on ?
Why soprano sound diffrent (filters are better on Winamp) ?

libsidplay2 has got some more options than sidplay2/w actually allows to play with. plugin for winampo seems to have set them a bit differently. most (if not all) are avaiable in VICE's sid emulation setup dialogs. |

Judging by ear (and nothing else): winamp plugin recreates high pass filter behaviour a _little bit_ more correctly than sidplay2/w, particularly on high cutoff frequencies.
I know that Jammer is a big fan of that plugin, ask him. |

I've only got LittleSid plugin for Winamp. Not my favourite, but if reSid's interpolation is set to on, they're closer, since the resonance is higher when reSid interpolation is on. (you can change that in VICE, not in SidPlay2, I think) Personally I like without interpolation better. I find the higher resonance a bit too sharp. So Jeff's tip not to use too high resonance settings while composing I cherish. |

Thanks Hein. You and Jeff are right. 10 years ago I used high resonance very often. On real C64 that sound perfect, but on emulation it's not the same. So from now I'm gonna say STOP for very high resonance ;) |
