JCH NewPlayer 21.g5

Since I don't use np21.g5 myself I haven't caught a serious problem with the previous upload. It seems the packer didn't parse all the player code, therefore the filter data pointers ended up pointing at garbage data when using NP-Pack 5.4beta (and previous version as well). I've uploaded a new zip-archive with the player, packer and demos, where actually only the packer has been updated. So, for the few people that actually use JCH still and fancy using np21.g5, you'd better download the new archive or tunes using filtered instruments will come out wrong when you pack them. ;)

Release is here:
JCH NewPlayer 21.g5

Cheers!

at some points, jch tends to crash for some reasons - even when the tune is being built from scratch. =) because of that i started to save my tunes a gazillion times, so that crashes hurt me less. from the top of my head, twoflower is also a reporter of randomly appearing jch crashes, i think he ran into them even more than i did. =)

sys $c803 (if I recall correctly) works most of the time in the usual version of JCH.. shouldn't be different just because another player i used I think (if this crash is due to the old problems, that is..). However.. no promises..

You are right, SYS $c803 works.

I can't recall that the JCH editor ever crashed on me with non debug versions of NP21. Now, I wonder if you guys use the SHIFT+P thing a lot or something, cause I noticed that it did some strange stuff in mem on a few occations when trying to get it to work with NP21.

If the editor crashes, one can always save memory from $0f00 to $9fff, reboot and reload the editor and load it back in. That should work for sure, unless the editor trashed the music data.

As I stated in the first post of this thread, I'm not using JCH anymore as I've been working on my own editor since October last year, in the bits of time I can find here and there. It's been usable for about half a year, and is pretty much done now. Only thing missing really is the ability to hold, edit, pack and relocate multi-tunes. If anyone of you are interested in giving SID Factory a try, write me a pm. It's a lot like the JCH editor, and has inherited most of the stuff that I like about it (including looks.. ;)), but is WAY better :).

SID Factory includes a build in packer and there's even a relocator tool for it. Beyond that, I've written two drivers that are working pretty ok.. One will do multi speed up to x4. The file format might change a bit in the future though, so there's no quarantee that work tunes will load in future versions, but still.. Those can be finished in the current then, unless I write a swap tool too :)

EDIT: Testing and suggestions are very welcome too..

WOOOW, I've been playing with SID Factory only 30 minutes, but I've already started loving it. :) Maybe we should open new topic about SF tests?
