samples in winvice

I was watching our Tupperware demo in winvice
when i found out that the sample in the sample part was not
playing as it should be.

Does anybody know what the problem might be?
I tried alot of different settings in winwice but nothing worked.

Just encountered a similar problem with the great Voodoo People demo by NoName. No setting yielded a satisfying result.

for Voodoo People samples:

Vice: 8580,atleast interpolation sample method
Hoxs: resample SID sampling quality in Setting/Emulation/Audio
CCS: cant play it correctly

you are kidding ? 8580 for samples ?
then it has to be sample-boost method..

There are digisids made EXCLUSIVELY for 8580, check most of Taxim's for example. 8580+Digiboost obviously.

the samples in Voodoo People are muffled on the 6581. you have to use 8580 and NO digi boost hardware mod is required. the techniques to produce loud 8580 samples have been used since the 1990s so you`re abit behind the times.

Same goes for Taxim's stuff, they were made on a regular 8580 without digi boost.

The PWM method in Voodoo people is quite nice. Barely any carrier frequency. I believe it is due to the initialisation of the second channel (that is delayed slightly before setting pulse waveform)

Sample format is rather weird (Nybble swapped it seems)

Reason why it sounds muffled on old sid is due to (I believe filters being used) in initialization with no autodetect to filter accordingly taking into account 6581. Turning off filters, audible quality is identical on old and new sid

VICE (harr) versa, digiboost on 8580 emulation does not work very well with 6581 samples either. I never built a digihack in any of my 8580 boards, though, so I don't know exactly if it's due to emulation or if the digihack was ever really able to play all 6581 samples correctly on real hardware at all.

This one, for instance, fails on my WinVICE reSID digi-boost emulations
Rock This
speech & drum digis stay mute in any of the 8580 +digiboost settings

Writing samples to $d418 should be audible even on 8580 (but very quietly) even without the software method of boosting the samples. Vice however (with 8580 emulation) gives completely silent samples regardless

yeah exactly what I remember from the old days when samples like Skate or Die! Intro or Speech Digis such as Ghostbusters or Mission Impossible were EXTREMELY silent but audible on real 8580 even without hardware SIDhack
