Request: Snapshot / Glance - Audio
It's bugging me alittle. 1 minute into the demo, and the audio really reminds me of another sid. Any suggestions?

hmm I just downloaded and listened to House_Zak/MSK. I think you are refering to the "quick walk up the scale" on the solo at 0:31 in House_Zak. That does sound very similar to the bit of solo on the fast part of the GunSlinger (around 1:42 in youtube video- right when the border for 3d Trail Blazer is being drawn). Although the scale is different, that particular 2 seconds guitar move and the fact that it is repeated 3 times seems very similar.
I guess I don't need to say that, this is not intentional :) In fact there may be many more pieces that share this particular melody transition. But I agree it is an interesting coincidence anyway :) |

It is interesting that how people can easily get bugged about such a common transition and even open a topic about it, while on the other hand nobody notices (!) (or even accepts when told so) how some very popular recent tunes blatantly rip off melodies in a clear way from other, well-known SID tunes.
(Oh well, go and flame me for hinting about a truth now. If you want to look for some clues, re-listen some SID compo winners and also some recent well-appreciated demo tunes. And them compare them to your memory of old, well-known SID tunes from 80's and 90's.)

@night lord "quick walk up the scale" thatll be it :)
Its funny when say a tune is playing, and theres one small aspect that triggers off a memory from another part of another tune. House_Zak/MSK is one of my favourites sid's. The tune that plays during Snapshot is also good, especially the heavy sounds during the opening. |
