Learning to Chip with GoatTracker

Hi everyone - I'm trying to learn the ways of GoatTracker and I'm still a bit of a hack I'm afraid. I've been mucking about trying to make a cover of MegaMan 1's ElecMan stage music.

I'm really just listening carefully to the original track and trying to disect and recompose it as it seems to be the best way to learn. I was wondering if you more experienced chip composers might have a listen to my efforts and let me know what you think? Any advice would be much appreciated as I'm keen to learn more. I've read the manual a few times but nothing beats a bit of experience.

If anyone's interested in listening to my attempts, can you PM me and I'll email you the GoatTracker files and my notes.

Thanks in advance :-)

Just post them. More chance someone is actually going to bother.

OK - it's very much a WIP so will post an update later in the week when I get some time to chip tune, but here it is:

MegaMan 1 Elec Man

Hope it's not too tragic!

Hmm just listened to it on a real C64 and the melody is way too quiet. Some ADSR tweaking to be done I think. The lead is really loud and harsh.

mmmh not sure if its a good idea to add this as an entry in the database (its probably not even a valid entry unless it comes with a working .sid or .prg file) :)

Hmhh.. What sort of verb is "(to) chip"...? :) (No need to answer.)

CHIP tunes, .MOD/.XM/.ETC musicians call their pathetic attempts on sounding like a SID CHIP that way, i believe.

Of course.. I just never saw anyone making a verb out of it.

EDIT: And nevermind me. I am just an old grumpy man.

For the record, my comment was aimed towards "chip" tunes on amiga/pc. Not this particular goattracker tune.
