while we're at it, when I tried to add a download link, the site complained about missing "http://" or "ftp://" tags while it was just a leading extra space... it would be nice to add a function which strips down lead/tail spaces before checking the string.

while we're at it, there are hundreds crack intros that are set as intros. changing them manually will take a long time and some entries are locked and cannot be changed because their maintainers havent logged here for 5yrs. i think that the best option would be to run a script that corrects these entries automatically, sth like:

1.if a game is linked to an intro->change the type to c64 crack intro.
2.if an intros.c64.org entry is linked to an intro->change the type to c64 crack intro.

to prevent mistakes after the process:
1.disable linking games to C64 Intro (not Crack Intro) release type.
2.disable linking intros.c64.org entries to C64 Intro (not Crack Intro) release type.

what do you think?

Excellent suggestions. I've been digging thru endless pages of Crack intros added as Intros & it's painful & utterly boring to do all these updates by hand.

ofcourse this wont solve the problem completely-its still possible that certain crackintros added as intros have got no game/intros.c64.org linked entries but it should shrink the number of incorrect types quite abit anyway.

Sounds like an idea, and a simple one even. :)

But now for the very stupid question:
When I think "intro" I think of a little something in front of something else - mostly a game. But is of cause a crack into, so what is a "into (not crack intro)" then? :)

intros that are not crack intros ..... the digital excess intro comes to mind, it looks like a typical (crack) intro, but only was used in front of demos and tools :)

but you are right....MOST "intros" are probably crack intros :)

Ok. Now I did as sugested in post #7.

That converted 978 releases from "Intro" to "Crack Intro", and now only crack intro's can refer to cracks and intros.c64.org.
